I tried finally a few dungeons lately and I liked the story and all, but the quests were made solo there - mostly only you can hear what NPCs say, also a player, who did that quest already get mostly nothing out of it.
I liked dungeons in LOTRO - it worked much more like a theatre performance - for everyone to be part of that: Upon entering the dungeon, a voice told to all of the players the short version of what is going on, then the group was stopped before the first barrier, so they had to wait untill NPCs said some speech.
Like this - the best 3man instance for me:

Also another difference was, that the bosses had a sentence to say upon damage received and if they were about to do some big damage - they did too - most of the time quite funny and typical for them. So overall feeling was, that the boss was speaking quite often, so you knew whom do you fight with.
In ESO, it doesn't work for me that well. The overall feeling is that you only run through a dungeon, kill the mobs on the way, you fight a bit longer at a boss and that is all - no race/personality typical sentences (if it does speak at all), nothing memorable. The friendly groups are funny, but there could be more.
I know that between all the combat numbers it sounds funny, that I care about something like that, but I believe, that LOTRO instance clusters like Isengard or Mirkwood, were not good only because of mechanics, but also because of such designs.
