Why does it require 13 ancestor silk for a 150 but 130 for a 160? Ten times more, literally.

That's the way it was decided it would be. Just don't make CP160 armour - the extra benefits are only small and will not make a difference.

Best to make CP160 weapons though as a gold CP160 weapon does 200 more damage than a purple CP160 weapon. Such a jump does not occur on CP150 weapons.

When you first find this out its annoying. But you come to embrace it, it means you think about end game gear and get into other elements of the game to earn the mats, trading, writs, etc. For me it keeps interest on wider use of the game. And makes you think. Sure the gains are only a few % but when ur ready its worth it.

The bigger hassle is the volume of gold mats you need at any level!! But same logic applies really. Things should take effort

One thing to remember, if your making something for the first time, make it in CP150 first and see what it looks like before you make it in CP160

And, make CP150 armor, CP160 weapons. The armor is so not worth the excess mats.

Now days it really doesn't take long to gather mats to craft the gear, If you have DB or TG DLCs. They are everywhere. Hardest to get is the leather. But still very do able., in IC. Or just buy them which is costly but fast. There is a coupled of sites that have pictures of all the armors and weapons. ESO fashion is a good one to look at.
