Are DK/tanks this slow to level?

Hey. I want to have a main tank class so I heard DK stam tanks are the best. I'm leveling with 1h/s and 2H but feels so slow doing it and weak. Level 29. Any good leveling builds for DK or something? Should I even be leveling as a tank or focus more on DPS until I hit level 50?.

    Don't level as a tank

Be a DPS and lvl all the skills and Champion points (first 160) you need that way, then at the end of it respec to a tank

Use dual wield with steel tornado (not sure what skill name is before morph). You will fly through the lower levels with this.

Level as DPS. It takes too long to kill stuff as a tank for any kind of speedy leveling.

That said... don't rush the first toon. Enjoy the scenery.

Has anyone leveled from 10 to 50 exclusively doing random normal's? How long does it take?

it *was* a pretty quick process, but with the finder broken I woulsnt bother.
get hundimgs in training. super good of you level as a dps. It'll help you understand things you may not notice while tanking as well.

My first vet character was a DK stamina tank and I leveled her from level 1 to Vet 16 via the standard quest line and Cadwells silver and gold. Daily randoms did not exist for bonus XP, I had no existing champion points and did not do daily undaunted pledges as I did not know what they where until I was half way through Vet ranks..

It was a slow process but I enjoyed it all the same. I would never bother doing Cadwells silver and gold again but feel I achieved something in doing it once anyway.

Unless you are doing group content you can use different armour/weapons and skills for solo content, I also had a set of medium Hundigs Rage armour. It is a good opportunity to be leveling other skills that you may want to use later on - I maxed out two handed, bow and got some good skill points for dual wield to go with the tanking must have, one hand and shield.

I also maxed out light and medium armour as well as all the DK, Mages and Fighters guild skill lines and have since maxed out the undaunted skill lines.

Only level as something that isn't your desired role if you know exactly how to play it in that class, what your build is gonna be, etc.

Otherwise I tend to think the advice of herp derp level as DPS! is stupid, because you're going to be a level capped moron who doesn't know how to play his class. I mean, unless you're okay with people being annoyed at you. I'd rather know what I'm doing.

Having leveled both DPS and tanks though, I don't think tanks level slowly. A slight time advantage is kinda whatever to me. I'm also not stupidly impatient though.

For leveling, if you are grinding it's always much faster to use steel tornado, brawler, acid spray, any stamina AOE dps. Just keep at least one or two sword and shield abilities on your bar.

The goal while leveling is to reach 50 with all three armor skills maxed out and all of the weapon and class skill lines maxed. Then you can start to plan and test your build, acquire CP 160 gear etc.

If you are leveling through quests or in Cyrodiil instead of grinding, then you don't need AOE and can stick with S&B, but always remember to keep putting some skills on your bar from other weapons and keep at least one piece med, light, heavy equipped until you get all of them maxed.
