Shadowscale base that will get replaced with Shadows of the Hist dungeon

When Shadows of the Hist was announced on PTS I decided to do a side by side comparison between the current terrain on live server where the new dungeons will be and changes that will come with them on update 11. With Cradle of Shadows they didn't change much. They swapped a few plants, moved a tree and added an entrance gate. But with Ruins of Mazzatun they removed a whole underground area that, what I presume, was a Shadowscale base filled with dead (murdered?) shadowscales and replaced it with a ruin that is filled with argonian skeletons and is an antechamber to the dungeon itself.

Also on the current live server inside the base there is an Eidetic memory entry called The Father's Promise located in the Words of the Poets tab. If someone is collecting everything for Eidetic memory they might want to collect this one because it may become inaccessible after Update 11 (But I guess that it will just be moved somewhere else).

A few notable things about the underground area. It has two treasure troves, a couple of runestones, a cooking fire and one spot where you can get a lot of bananas. Cave also has a lot of branching so it was fun to explore it the first time. I don't know if it has any quests tied to it.

Also just for the record I don't have any problems with changes that will happen. I took these pictures just for safekeeping in case it becomes inaccessible because the area looks cool.

Sure thing, it is west from Stormhold. Also I only found it because of the update on PTS.

Well maybe you could get some of the cash back with this I don't know for how much bananas sell for.

I remember exploring that area back near launch. I never found any of this. I wonder when it was added.

i started EP (console launch) and i spent more time is shadowfen than anywhere else, between trying to level my vamp by feeding on npc's & running the quests with about 4 different people (seperatley) 2 help them. hence my surprise that i had never seen it!

I explored this location a little last night; it's kind of a pity it's going away, because it would make a nice little secret base.

How do you get there? That map location is at the top of a waterfall that it appears it is impossible to reach.

This. I'm trying to get there now, but it's solid cliff faces all the way around.

just looking for the cave entrance and also had trouble,

went wandering around and found the entrance to the as yet unavailable dungeon just to the north east of where i should of been according to the map

west of the eye icon - the large brown circle

im on xbox eu server, looks like the cave is gone forever :'(

Also, turns out I already explored it, I just forgot (the note in the cave is already in my eidetic memory).

In case you were wondering what would happen if you left a character in, say, the submerged part of the cave...








Artifacts from the cave include a body, a few containers, a live snake, and a Thieves Trove.




Swam toward the trove, fell off the map, reloaded, then landed at Stillrise wayshrine.
RIP cave, and thanks for all the bananas.
