Okay ZOS this is just flat out unexceptible.

I had a friend whom I have not seen in the flesh in over 9 years come to see me tonight and as we got to talking over dinner he explained that he was still a gamer nerd at heart even at our old age.

He went on to say that he to was into ESO for a long time and had played on PC and then went to PS4, but that he had stoped playing shortly after console launch due to no text chat and the game was so unstable that he just could not bear to even try to play the game anymore and had traded his PS4 ESO in.
After about 30 minutes of sitting in my house I had him talked into buying the Xbox One version when he went home after his 3 hour drive and starting ESO again on the XBox with myself and my guild. I had told him that Text chat was indeed coming to console and that the game did not crash as much as it used to and seemed to be more stable than it was.

Well I went on to explain to him that VR was removed and how the CP system worked now. He was very happy to hear these things and wanted to see my character for me to show him exactly how the level system worked now and maybe some of the DLC.

Well I log into ESO and my character was in Orsinium when I had logged off turning in Writs. Well I tried to port out and C-R-A-S-H! He laughed...
I then tried to log into the game C-R-A-S-H! to desktop. He laughed again.
Tried again.. Got my character loaded did not take a step I simply just tried to port out.. Stars came up. C-R-A-S-H! I then spent the next 45 minutes trying to get my character to load and kept crashing over and over.

He said ... "Yeeeeaaaaahhhh I tihink I will pass"

You are losing customer and potential customers.. STOP shoving DLC out the dang door and FIX /take the time to fix the game!

We all know ZOS rushed console ESO out the door due to Never Winters launch on console, and we delt with the bugs and unfinished problems back then, but guys its been a year.. We should be working on class balance and other normal MMO problems. We should not at this point be trying to get our characters to at least be able to log into the -Blanking- game!

I think it's worth tagging some ZOS Devs about this. You've summed up exactly how my experiences go with the few times I've showed people this game. ZOS could have SO MANY MORE CUSTOMERS SINCE VET RANKS WERE REMOVED but totally messed it up with the severe performance issues. :disappointed:

If they gave a *** about you/us and their game things like these would be fixed pronto. The fact that still there are bugs that have been in game since launch seems to suggest that, sadly. They are focused on pumping out as many dlc's and the new bugs that arise with them as possible, and that means less resources to fix ***, truly sad state of affairs.

Honestly their console launch had nothing to do with Neverwinter, the console launch had actually been postponed numerous times after PC launch because they couldn't get the console version to actually work, they had to go and spend and extra year of development trying to get console versions working... with rumors throughout that time that ZOS was just going to completely cancel the console version. Which means I'm betting their launch had more to do with corporate financial pressure than Neverwinter.

However, that entire scenario of having to spend an extra year just to get it to work leaves me little confidence in their expertise when it comes to the console versions, and I think this is demonstrated with all the bugs, crashes, etc on the console versions.

So, to show your friend how stable the game was, you tried to go in Orsinium on Xbox ?

Ummm, I think he was already in Orsinium. It would be different if we could actually choose where to spawn when we log in so that those who play on Xbox didn't have that problem and have characters stuck.

My boyfriend was interested in getting a PC version (he's an MMO fan) but after watching me play on console he said "that's awful" and he'd never seen so many bugs and crashes. He then went on to say he used to be bothered by bugs in other games (like WoW) but in comparison they were minor.

I genuinely felt embarrassed because of how much I rave about the game to him.

You must really hate your friend to try and convince him to buy this game for XBox One. Aren't both versions in the consoles having huge performance issues, most of which but not restricted to Orsinium? o.o

At least get him to buy the PC version, there are a lot of cheaters, a ton of bugs, but the game is at least playable. >.>

Because it is the only place you can deliver crafting writs and Zenimax in their great wisdom, has not moved Writs elsewhere for Consoles. Besides, Orsinium is content they paid for and should be able to access.

@Cazzy depending on his pc, I think he's doing himself a great disservice. I'm strictly a PC gamer but I don't think he should compare the PC and Console's ESO experiences. I've had practically ZERO issues playing on my PC and couldn't be happier with ESO. Since it's B2P if he can afford the initial investment he has nothing more than that to lose! Good luck!

Oh I know. I'm still trying to convince him to get ESO gold when it comes out. I think he's put off simply because the bugs and crashes haven't been fixed on console yet, so he's concerned the same could happen on PC. If I put it in brutal honesty; he's worried ZOS don't care about their game.

I'll keep trying to convince him and I've explained they're working on the problems on console, he just sees it everyday when I'm gaming :/

To be honest I get booted every once in a while from Xbox (maybe once a session, regardless of time played), but I seriously never have even the smallest percent of issues people talk about on here. I don't have the constant bugs and crashes that people talk about. They say it's unplayable, but I can get hours in without issue. Morrowind on the original xbox was unplayable; most times it crashed on boot. And to be transparent, I also don't min/max or calculate if I'm dealing the expected damage, etc. So I rely on the good folks who do that to tell it straight when there is an issue.

That said, are people's experiences with the game that different and inconsistent, or are they reacting to the same things differently, or is it both?

basically console cant handle huge dlc like orsinium i think even ZOS knows this showing it by only putting out these smaller half sized zones/dlcs since then i dont think since release ive had a stable orsinium on console actually the reason i went back to pc console version is just bad but i love the game.

If we were to be brutally honest, there's no denying the fact that even PC has quite a few bugs. For instance the horrible metal grating sound with certain activation of skills when the Shadows of Hist first released (although fixed now), or the charge skill bug where the charge animation becomes stuck and all animations that follow afterwards are not shown. Or the fact that certain skills still break NB's out of cloak when they shouldn't. Or how character facial animations get stuck, or how certain NPC quest givers don't appear unless you log off then log back on. No, there are a lot of bugs in this game, regardless of whether it's PC or Console. Heck even their cancel subscription button is "bugged" (yeah right) out apparently and now people can't cancel their membership through their account page.

** I never said there weren't bugs. However the things you listed , I haven't experienced. My experience has been great overall. Would these things keep you from playing? I suspect not. Bugs are a constant in MMO's.

While I in no way would try to recruit people back to the game in the state it's in on, especially on Consoles...it's not their fault the game is broken in so many ways.
