I really love pvp, but im a little bit lazy of grinding for cp... im wondering how much cp do i need to stay competitive in cp only pvp ? the max is 501, if i have 160 cp.. will i still get 1shotted/burst not from skill, but cause they have more "passive boosts" than me?

    I'd consider myself a decent fighter. Not great...mediocre animation cancelling skills. I've got a few good builds, nice gear and I think my skills are good. And I have 501 CP. I wouldn't be concerned about 2-3 CP160s jumping me, I'll probably win unless they are all excellent players.
    Everyone gets their *** kicked in PvP sometimes, but your low CP is a real handicap.

    Depends on how often you play, but yeah this isn't a game where you're a super hero quickly. I wouldn't worry about jumping into PvP, it'll be frustrating at times and hugely rewarding at others. Stay with a group whenever possible, other players healing and buffing you will help tremendously.
    You probably won't be 1vXing anytime soon, but you can contribute in PvP without being max level.

    At least you're CP160, so you CAN make and wear really good endgame gear, that helps a lot. PvP, if you haven't done it, is just a learning curve. 1v1 you're handicapped, as part of an army you're perfectly viable.

    If your with a Group or say defending a Keep with others, there is a lot of PvP you can do up there. It's one on one or smaller groups that will test your mettle.

    Join a good PvP Guild and you will find plenty of PvP you can do until get comfortable enough, and leveled enough in some cases, to do all facets of PvP

    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Can you still earn XP towards CPs in the non CP campaign? A question I've always wondered about, since the population in that campaign always seems so low.

    There should be a campaign where CP is disabled. You could PvP there until you get more CP.

    I think most PvP players grind levels or CPs in PvE areas. You get exp in PvP, you can just grind it faster in PvE

    At 160 CP, I would probably stick to a non CP campaign unless you are rolling with a decent group. Then, it really doesn't matter. I found about 250-300 CP to be the tipping point for most people where true end game really opens up. That is about where I was when I cleared most endgame stuff the first time, including VMA. Once you are about halfway to the cap, sustain is less of an issue, and you should have enough into defense to avoid most one shots. If an experienced ganker gets the jump on you, you are probably done no matter how much CP you have. Haha

    the difference is actually less than people are telling you in most cases

    eg.
    10CP = 5%
    27CP = 10%
    48CP = 15%
    73CP = 20.1%
    100CP = 25%

    a 501 has 3 times your 160s champion points. best case he is 5% stronger than you, worse case he is 15% stronger than you.
    It matters. But skill matters more.

    the main issue though is regen, 15% more regen is not simply 15% more powerful, its offence, and defence, breaking free, dodge rolling, sneaking, escaping, healing, even assigining the CP gives your base health/stam/magicka. so in paper its not much. but when its that advantage in every aspect of game play it adds up.

    Id aim for being around >300 CP before I would worry about serious PvP in CP campaigns. and stick to non cp campaigns until then

    Yes, you can. Any XP earned anywhere goes towards CP.

    OP, you should give it a try. I find that in PvP, knowing what you are doing is more important than how many CP you have. If you know how to play your class and how to counter attacks from other players, you will have a better time than someone with more CP that doesn't know these things.

    As someone else pointed out, you are at a level where you can wear end-game gear, so find a good PvP guild and dive in and have fun!

I love pvp, and i love this game pvp combat.. not just about knowing ur skill rotation and class.. but how to dodge and interupt,animation cancel,etc... but sucks how if im 160, ill get *** on even if i played my *** perfectly from some guy 501cp...

    Hey, I have 501 CP and if you play your class perfectly, I will not be able to beat you. :-P

    You should really give it a try. Maybe play a week in a CP campaign and then a week in a non-CP campaign and see what the difference is really like?

    I'd consider myself a decent fighter. Not great...mediocre animation cancelling skills. I've got a few good builds, nice gear and I think my skills are good. And I have 501 CP. I wouldn't be concerned about 2-3 CP160s jumping me, I'll probably win unless they are all excellent players.

    get into bigger groups, prepare to get killed in 2 seconds many many times, but it is still fun (my story :smiley: I have 320cps, but I am a beginner to PVP, I mostly did PVE, now starting to PVP more)

    That is true.
    I don't really care much about 1vX outside the context of the alliance war. I do love an epic keep/outpost defence. Watching a larger force just melt because the defenders knew what they were doing is pretty awesome!

    If you think CP is your bane then I recommend you use the non-CP campaign on your platform/server. For PS4/NA it's Azura's Star.
