Monster set for destro-resto Magicka Nightblade

Which of the monster sets do you prefer for your destro-resto Magicka Nightblade? And why? I keep switching and am really undecided! My main focus is pvp not pve

Lich is kind of a monster set of types, I'd say that.

If not that then I guess kena but good luck getting that to proc with all the dodge rolling, dodge chance and lag.

That's exactly why I just can't use Kena. To proc it in PVP is such a pain. This is why I often wear just one Kena and 2 Torugs (shoulder and destro). The Lich set is not what I have in mind. I am referring to 2 pieces sets

I thought about Nerien'eth but the fact that the crystals blow up after 3 seconds gives plenty of time for people to dodge the damage. I don't think I have ever been hit by one of those things! Lately I have been using Scourge Harvester and I must say that when it procs it is awsome. But I always play feeling "Oh I could seriously boost the damage with another set..." Besides, 10 meters range is not always ideal. Maybe Blood Spawn?

im pve player but when pvping i use the head/shoulder slot for viciousdeath instead of kena set and change willpower jewels for vicious death ones. I dont know if that setup will work for real pvp builds but if it does its a good way to have a 5 piece set like julianos or twice born star; get both the vicious death bonus and the spellpower bonus for dual wielding/s&b torugs pact. It does require a maelstrom staff on first bar

If you're using Vicious Death set in PVE, you're doing it wrong...

Well I've always found engine guardian a good pick for any Pvp build as well, it's very rng based of course but it procs so often and resources of any kind are important.

As for nerien'eth, I don't think I've ever been hit by a lich crystal in Pvp... Ever and I'm not that greater player. Skoria, never seen that in my death recaps. Bloodspawn? Kinda nice but ulti gen on a magblade is especially high already for ranged nbs. Maw? For lols... Malubeth? You're ranged so no real point.

That's my process of elimination.

So, either 2 Scourger or 1 Kena... with Scourger I could also use Rapid Regen or Mutagen

Probably 1 kena 1 bloodspawn. As other posters said, 2 set monster bonus doesn't really help mNBs. Extra stam regen is always nice for break free and dodge rolls.

Molag Kena, Nerien'eth, Valkyn Skoria are the best choices.

Nerien'eth is definitely better than Valkyn Skoria on a Magicka Nightblade. Molag Kena is amazing at Strife spam if you have the proper buffs up to have great sustain.

For pvp... 1 kena.

Although I am using nerien'eth only sap tank. But it's slightly different. For a straight up, dps magica NB, 1 kena or nothing really.

EG will give e you away in cloak. Plus with syphoning strikes, sustain should not be an issue at all.

Wollust

One Kena and one Bloodspawn is always a solid choice as you have use for both the spell damage and stam regen bonus.
Another alternative is Malubeth. Works extremely well on destro/resto NBs with Funnel as spammable, making you very tanky.
2 Bloodspawn can work out quite well.
2 Kena is pretty nice if you can sustain your magicka (which you should be able to because Funnel is so cheap and Siphoning Attacks quite strong). And it procs from light attack weaving, so you could guarantee uptime without any hindrance if you know how to weave.
Nerieneth sucks for most situations in PvP because of its delayed explosion. I guess it's okay in zergy stationary sitations but other than that, it seems pretty bad for me.

If you are set on monster sets, I would use one of the following depending on what I needed.

-2 Piece Bloodspawn. Great for ulti gen, defense, and stam management. Nice in small group stuff. I run this a lot on several toons.

-1Kena 1 Bloodspwan. Stam regen and spell damage. Good in large group stuff if you need to block cast and just want to hit harder. This is my go to for stamina/aoe builds in PVP.

-Malubeth. This set is very powerful right now to the point of inducing rage posts on the forums. Big heals right there. Great for 1vX. I havent used this a ton, but the rage from others is real. haha

-Engine Guardian. Great for resource management, but you really shouldnt need it. I usually view EG as a big neon sign that says, "I cant manage my resources." It is nice for tanks or when solo.

I dont like any of the traditional DPS sets in PVP. Skoria doesnt proc enough, Nerienth is too easy to dodge, Kena is to much of a pain to keep up.
