Penetration, crits and DoTs

Quick questions:

1. Are DoT ticks effected by penetration? I mean, once the DoT has been applied, does penetration play a role on every tick?

2. Similar to above: does Impen trait reduce the dmg of critical DoT ticks? I've noticed my DoTs sometimes crit and IDK if impen gear reduce their dmg.

Thanks

    1. As far as I understand it, yes. DOTs work retroactively with spell/weapon power + penetration. Ie:: you cast DOT then apply major breach --> so the DOT will be more effective for the full duration of the major breach. Or if you have 2 weapons ie 1 sharpened and 1 precise. You cast dot with precise then swap to sharpened weapon, the DOT will start penetrating 5200 (from sharpened) weapon when u swap to it. (it will also lose the crit from ur precise weapon).

    2. Yes. Impen reduces all crit damage.

    Maybe someone else can confirm.

My understanding is to major breach-> apply DoT as the first ticks of DoT skills are usually higher...

Major breach in my understanding is to be applied rotationally, never allowing downtime

I think it depends on your weapon and skill choice. DW DoTs and poison injection become stronger as the enemy loses health due to the slaughter passive. Eventually, it can be combined for a stronger effect with the ruffian passive, but you need to pay atention to the DW tick to place the CC. For a NB, the best option is agony.

Then it comes the doubt, what is better, Major Breach/Fracture or a disable? (in the case of a DWer)

In the case of bows, debuffs are always better.
