Need help with high elf Dk

so I've got a high elf Dk it's my first eso char so I kinda didn't know what I was doing and still don't. After getting to champion 108 I feel I'm much weaker then most others my level in cyrodil I die easily even to players that should be somewhat matched, my health seems
To drop quickly and the only good damage spell I have really is lava whip

I'm not sure if I just suck at eso which is possible or maybe I just have a bad build

I'm using a destruction staff with a restoration on backup, all heavy armour which I think may have been a mistake

A couple questions I have is can I make my char better? Or maybe it's a lost cause and I'll make a new one? I read that there is sometype of magika sorcerer I can make that's decent? I could use my current char for full craft if I decided to make a new one.

I'm starting to get real frustrated now Any help is appreciated

I like pve and pvp I can put up some of my chats stats in the morning if needed

I was in the exact same position as you, my first character was a DK High Elf (magika) with all heavy armour, i got to vet 3 and hated playing him. He felt so weak and i had no idea how to build him. He sat on the sidelines for about 6 months.

I just recently had the urge to play him again so with a bit of research, and a lot more knowledge of the game i started from scratch.

I figured out how i wanted to play him and for what content, PvE group content. I respect my attribute points 54 magika, 10 health and reset all my skill points.

I made all new armor, 7 light, 5 piece Seducer, 3 piece Magnus Gift. I put all magika enchantments on too. I went a fire destruction stuff on my main bar, with a restoration staff on my back up bar.

On my main bar i went mostly AoE based skills, with a spam skill too, i can't remember the names though (I'll get back to you on that).

On my back up bar i went with survival and buff skills, (again I'll get back to you).

Anyway long story short, decided what content you want to play and how you want to play then build you character around that.

Thanks for replys guys any info is helpful, I'm going to decide what I'm gonna do today after work. Is there any loss to just making a new char to 50? I mean I'll still be champion 108 On him as well right ? I was reading some things to rush a char to 50

You get to keep your CP. But when you grind up to 50, you may not level up all your skills lines and get all your passives, so you still have to do those. In order to get Mages Guild 10, you have to complete the main quest to open up the Silver zones. Undaunted is by far the most painful to level up.

Mag DK is very weak in PvP right now, but mag sorc is 2nd from the bottom. Mag sorc can be very lethal in skilled hands, but the skill bar is high. If you want to stick with magicka characters, magicka templar is pretty easy to play, very flexible in terms of playstyle and is doing quite well in PvP at the moment.

Another option is to switch your DK to stamina. Stamina is king right now in PvP. You'll have to level weapon skills of course.

That said, you may not want to abandon your mag DK. In a coordinated group, Mag DKs more than pull their weight by providing group utility and controlling the fight. This is true in PvE dungeons as well. And everyone dies in PvP a lot at first, so don't let that fret you. Group up at first -- you won't learn much if you die in 3 seconds.

The question is -- how do you want to play? If you can answer that question, your choices will be comes more clear.

At CP 108, you're going to feel much weaker than most people in Cyrodiil unless you're in a campaign without champion points.

Lava Whip is your best PvE damage ability, and probably PvP as well, so what you're experiencing is just how the class is designed.

Magicka DK probably has one of the highest skill-caps in the game. In addition to your main spammable (Lava Whip) you also have to keep up a LOT of dots to be the powerhouse you were born to be, such as: Engulfing Flames, Burning Embers, Elemental Blockade, possibly Eruption, occasionally tossing in some Deep Breaths. You get the idea. It's a much more difficult class to play than, say, a Templar. But it's totally worth it if you can get the rotation down. I can't really speak to the PvP side of MagDK since I haven't played one there, but I can assure you that for PvE it's totally worth it (though for PvE you probably want to go double-Destro and light armor instead of heavy).

Thanks for the replys I may try to "fix" my dk I put a lot of points into health instead of all into magicka I suppose I'll reset that and go full magicka?

As for my skills I'll probably have to reset those as well I have mostly attack skills nothing to buff another up and no healing at all

I'm like 80% pve and 20% pvp. Mainly only get into pvp because I like being in the imperial sewers and stuff

Where eso was a pc based game and then came to consoles I kinda missed out on the original eso and now there was update after update so it's kinda overwhelming to start and be lost completely with lots of things like which glyphs and stuff to use for Armors and things

I need to figure out some good aoe spells a good damging ultimate and some buffs and healing and which armour to use and what to. Enchant each piece with its a lot to figure out

You do need to make sure you are running at least 5 pieces of light, have all the light armour passives unlocked, and have most of your attributes in Magicka. You also want most on you armour enchants to be Magicka as well. I put just enought points in health to maintain survivability and then everything else, including all enchants goes to Magicka.

My magicka DK spams Burning Embers (morph of Searing Strike) and he is nigh on unkillable in PvE as long as he doesn't run out of Magicka.

So I reset my atttributes and skills now I suck more lol I really think I'm going to abandon the char. I put basically all my points into magicka and a few into health got
All new skills for more aoe damage and spam damage on first bar and second bar is mostly
Healing spells my clothing crafting isn't the best so I got what I could


I basically die instantly now can't block any mobs of anything and still run out of magicka before everything is dead causing me to die
