Dragon knight build help...

XHandsomexJackX
So I am a lvl 165 dtagon knight and my attributes are: 26 Magika 22 Health 16 Stamina. My skills assigned are Venomous claw iv, Molten whip iv, Volatile armor iv, Green dragon blood iv, Stone giant iv and my ultimate is Standard of might iv. Champion points are invested in: Thief- The Lover. Mage- The Ritual. Warrior- The Lord. I am currently using Sword of Bahraha's curse with 1120 DMG. But my question ,is this even a good build? I have seen other players with this class around my lvl just destroy enemies where as it takes me awhile. I don't know if I did something wrong with the build but just looking for some suggestions from other experienced players out there.

First indeed is putting all atrributes in either stamina or magicka especially as dd but even when you want to tank or be a healer. The game makes hybrid playing technically possible but with loss of much dps.

When going magicka or stamina damage dealer and playing in a group put only skills on your bar that are fosussed on damage output. Every skill thats on your bar that is about defense only is lowering your dps. Trust the healer!! Its what makes group dps strong;) When playing solo use vigor for stamina or deep breath/embers for magicka selfheal.

When going healer put all atributes in magicka so youll only need to switch gear to turn from healer to magicka dd and back

When going tank put all attributes in stamina or magicka so you can switch from tankgear to ddgear without dps loss (both magicka tanking and stamina tanking is very suitablee for dk)

Keep in mind that both stamina and magicka dk dd is heavily supporting damage over time effects, use all dot skills that over time have more damage than your single target main damage skill.

Last advise is keep asking these kind of questions; its the attitude of wanting to know and willingness to learn that will help you most:)

First thing that sticks out is are you trying to be a magicka or stamina build? You have split your resources so not sure.

Can you tell us what your other weapon bar has on it and you mention a sword but is it two hand, sword and board or duel wield? What armour and jewellery sets are you wearing? Do you want to PvE or PvP mainly? If PvE what role do you want to play, i.e. tank, DPS or healer?

Yea if you want to be viable pick a build. Magicka or stamina. and invest all your points into one. I know Stan DKs can put out a lot of dmg but I've heard the same about mag so choose whichever you like better.

I would say PvE and my sword is one hand I think but I mostly use two handed I just can't find a good sword anywhere. My armor set is basically mix and match. Not sure where to get a good set from either and amulet is amulet of agility as well as ring, but I just tried getting my Manila up so I could use molten whip more and stamina for venomous claw. I'm not to sure what I'm doing now lol.. First mmo sort of,

While you are leveling and doing most quests, the build doesn't matter much as the content is easy enough even with random item pieces you pick up along the way.

At the point when you want to start doing veteran pledges or PVP, however, you need to take some time to figure out a build and practice.

Try looking up some stamina DK or magicka DK build videos on youtube. When you see something that looks like it will be more fun for your playing style, use that as a starting point. You don't need to copy any particular build, but that should give you some ideas about attributes, abilities and gear.

Hybrid builds are possible but a bit tricky to pull off. I'd suggest to stick with either magicka or stamina build if this is your first character. You can always change it up later.

If you are looking to complete your agility set, it might be hard to find the other ring, but you can use a sword of agility for the third piece. If you decide to go for stamina dps, some sets that will be cheap to acquire and might complement your 3x agility weapon dmg bonus would be stuff like 5x hundings rage, 2x Leki's, 3x sentry.

Magicka and stamina DKs are both fun. It sounds like you want to DPS so I would recommend focusing on one or the other. The class skills are useful but don't over look the weapon skills as well.

So if you go magicka DK use your class skills, Mage guild skills and destro and healing staff skills. If you go stamina use your class skills (mainly the stam morphs but some magicka skills as well is fine) Fighters guild skills, Alliance War skills (requires some PvP but Vigor is worth it for a stam heal) and weapon and armour skills. You increase your damage with weapon damage and max stamina for stam DK and spell damage and max magicka for mag DK.

Since you are testing at this stage I would recommend using crafted sets if you or a friend can craft it for you. Once you have decided whether you want to go stam or magicka you can look at getting drop sets and a final build. If you are trying stam go Hundings 5 piece and 3-4 piece Night Mother if you are going magicka try 5 piece Julianos and 3-4 piece Magnus. It will give you an idea of what you can be like with a final build.

Since you have some agility jewellery already it may be easier to try stam DK first.

I'm a DK and prefer it over a sorc or NB; although a sorc and NB are brutal with the right build and players. The problem I see as a DK is it doesn't have as good of a defensive or offensive abilities against melee attacks from mobs of baddies as a sorc or NB. For example, at dolmen, when you have those 6 baddies initially calling up the anchor. I'm in the 450 CP now, and granted since I made into the 400 with enough CPs to plus up my defensive and offensive slots, I can pretty much breeze through any CP 160 level dolmens by myself. However, I would still have a slight trouble taking on all those 6 at once. Sorc has that impulse blast they do from the staff that can easily hit all 6 or more coming at you and the NB has that lightning thing they throw on the ground the drains the health of the enemies, among other melee-style attack abilities they possess. For a DK, the best I see so far, is the flame of oblivion which throws out a blast every 5 seconds or so, but it uses majicka.

So, a lot of a DK's good offensive abilities use a lot of stam, if you're using 2H like I am.. such as the cleave and wrecking blow. So, for the lack of a better defensive ability, I would have to rely on my offensive blows to get me through a fight against many. So, I would have to plus up my health, stam and weapon damage, versus if you're a sorc that uses a lot of majicka over stam, then you would plus up the majicka. I currently have 0 points to my majicka attributes, but with the armor sets I have, my majicka is still in the 12K.. which is fine. I only need majicka for my flame of oblivion and the other impen ability of the fragmented shield. My armor sets also boosted my health into the mid-20k, so most of my points go into my stam attribute.. which is about 50, and the rest into my health attributes.

So, I guess the bottom line is.. for a DK, you need higher stam and health. If you have an armor set that boost health, then plus up your stam attribute. If you have the latter of stam DK, then plus up your health attribute.
