Initially I thought my yolo max magic build would be lost to me, and my Dawnbreakers handed over to stam builds as per Wrobel's logic. I made some tweaks tho, My Dawnbreakers are back.

I can't view video from my phone right now but I was wondering if the new Dawnbreaker would sill work. Glad you posted this. I never used it anyway(I used devouring swarm), but I am thrilled you worked a stamina ultimate back into the build.

Nice to see a heavy resto staff used like that, that's old school.

It's also nice to see a Magicka sorc build using dawnbreaker. Although I wonder if some of that success is due to skilled tracker and so many people running vampire.

Given how the damage scales with Stam/Mighty, how much do you have to run to make it effective?

I can count the amount of sorcs running a variant of this kind of set-up on one hand, and I'll still have 2 fingers to count with. Would you prefer a destro/resto set-up that shield stacks?

I dont see how Pixysticks is relevant right now. he quit about 14 months ago. He ran a 40k magic set-up in a meta where 30k frags were easily possible. He was also doing it with broken Dual Wield Nirnhoned swords that were patched shortly after. I'm bordering 50k magic territory and 3 shotting people in a meta where there is a 50% dmg reduction in Battle-spirit, and most of the people encountered are CP capped and can amp up their passive mitigation. Oh, and I can sustain pretty much endlessly, which is a very scary thing for a max damage build to do... Oh and i'm using a now stam ultimate and hitting harder then all the Stam rerolls trying to cheese it. If you think name-dropping a sorc from years of yore is going to devalue my efforts in the present day, try again.

I'm still tweaking the numbers, but I think I found a perfect split. My buffed Dawnbreaker tool-tip is 16k initial hit then 18k DOT. Most Stam builds I see border these numbers. I can probably get it to hit harder, but I don't have resources to make a new set yet. I basically just focused on optimizing my Frag and Dawnbreaker damage to accomplish deadly bursts. The guranteed CC Dawnbreaker does as stam now is a nice compromise from the literal one-shots(On vamps, naturally) I used to do with it when it was magic based, lol.

I remember back at the beginning of 1.6 doing a lot of testing with Pixy and Ezy with spell pen numbers and different builds/setups. As one of the "other" dual wield max magicka sorcs still around I can tell you the game is night and day since Pixy last played (rest in peace). Doesn't take anything away from Pixy as he was and is a beast of a player, it also doesn't take anything away from what QAM is still able to do with the build currently 2-3 shotting people in a completely different meta.

Have you done the math on CP160 Warlock versus Lich? Purple tooltip for Warlock on PTS is 7885 magicka, versus 1032x10 for gold Lich. Lich seems to win but a sharpened resto (or maelstrom sharpened resto) might be worth the regen loss.

Warlock would allow more flexibility with build options, maybe even include a monster piece if you wanna get creative. Warlock would be better for a destro/resto set-up. I personally like how Lich synergizes with a DW 5pc set-up and will likely continue to do so.

Not this patch. I've only begun playing on this build again after making my adjustments.


Last patch, yes. Many notable names fell victim to my yolo dawnbreakers. I found this build to be very effective in 1v1, although my hard-counter are destro/resto shield-stacking sorcs. But even then, they just need to make one slip-up... and I am very patient.

Lich wins by a long shot. It provides easily tripple the magica of warlock because the lich regen gets modified by everything resulting in over 25k magica gain over 20s for a highelf sorc.
Warlock can´t compare with a fixed amount of ~9k in gold. The set lich will be competing with should be amberplasm.

Apart from sets used the build used has not changed. It was not meant to devalue his effort to make DW magica work. Just a comment on the title of the topic (DW sorc is back) - because that specific build did not change.

And you´re doing nothing different. The only thing that has changed are outside circumstances. For the bold claim for DW sorc being back you should have chosen atleast a unique build and not something that has been sort of vaible since march last year - but thats just my opinion.

The comment on my facial features just proves me right in my inherent dislike of people teabagging and putting that in a video for whatever reason.

I appreciate the feedback @Makkir @Lord_Hev . I was kinda leaning toward staying with Lich myself, but I'm wasn't sure how much of that stemed from just not wanting to farm AA. I hate those axes.

I should dust off my sorc. She can't be any rougher than trying to solo Mag DK in Azura's.
