I still hate Jumping.

I'm sory but I still despise how jumping works in ESO, it feels so clunky and badly done. Especially when trying to jump on a simple ledge, only to get thrown off in a random direction.

It would be really good if something were done to improve it.

Did you play at launch? There was no jumping onto something unless you were already moving, and jumped a distance away from the ledge. It really sucked back then.

Then they improved it greatly and it was so nice for so long. Then someone decided they could not leave well enough alone and messed it up a couple of updates ago, and the fixes to undo it have not fully returned the Jump fluidity that we had for about a year.

Yeah, I've played since launch and before. It was very bad at launch. It got better but I'd say now it's even worse.

Edit: Also to be honest, even when it was 'good' it wasn't very good or easy to control like jumping is in some games. It was just good compared to the garbage it was before.

I love loading up Skyrim or Oblivion and Jumping down a staircase and turning in mid air to change path....I remember going down the stairs in my Solitude house that way. I would jump at the top, do a 180 in the middle and land on the bottom landing.

I just hate when I try to jump over a small rock... and I enter a slow-motion like fall that takes 2-3 seconds for me to hit the ground. XD

The thing that irks me the most is how the character reacts to certain surfaces. Rooftops, the giant Mushrooms, and especially when you get caught on the side of a rock and you VERY slowly "fall" down the side before eventually actually falling away from it.

Yeah, or when you jump and the object is at an angle you just slide along the side of it and then get flung off. It's all so dumb.

    2-3 seconds!

I get angry when it takes almost 10 seconds from the larger inclines.

Tbh Oblivion's jumping system (turning and moving mid-air when not falling at a fast speed) would be great compared to the current jumping!

I once leapt at a root from Elden Root and got caught in that glitch, but it made it look like my mount was pawing at it as it went down, like sharpening its claws or "making biscuits" :p

I just want to jump up mountains again like in Skyrim
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

All you need for that is a horse though. Skyrim Horses defy gravity.

It was amazing. Why climb the 7000 stairs to high hrothgar when you can get a horse and jump up in 1 minute.

being a console player I just really hate trying to jump on something and end up selecting the npc close by or opening a crate instead of jumping. Any key mapping changes make it such a strange layout for everything else, just to fix jump/select

Indeed. Can't count how many times I've dismounted trying to jump across a gap or over a river just because a bug or fishing hole was in my crosshair...

The excess of colision walls where they're not needed is also very frustrating when jumping.

Like VCoA, that every experienced player used to skip easily two trash packs by walking the lava and then go up climbing the rocks.

I've got so mad trying to do it today...

    Damn...

I'm really convinced people will complain about nearly everything these days...

What's next? A complaint on how our characters breathe?

maybe of topic but i noticed that khajit walk and run way faster as highelf and speed seems to have a thing with jumping .
The oftopic part is that mount dont care wether they are fully trained if a highelf ride,s iit its slower then when a khajit rides it .
    weird
    because its possible

Jumping actually got me killed in Cyrodiil.

I was running from a zerg, decided to attempt to jump over a small rock, next thing I know I'm dramatically falling for about 10 seconds off the side of the rock whilst being 3 inches from the ground.

Needless to say the zerg caught up with me.

mounts are even worse by just running. You hit a small bump and your mount goes from full speed to near-stalled speed for a split second. The mount slowing mechanism is a pain that every single difference makes your mount slow down, but a hill that makes your mount go half speed, if you take it at 45 degrees, will go full speed? no logic in that.

What's even more stupid is, when you want to mount, you have to stop, whistle, get on the mount, slap it , started accelerating. If you want to dismount to open a door, interact with anything or simply dismount, you have to slowly dismount from it and land before being able to interact with it. BUT if you crouch/block/attack, the mount simply vanishes instantly.

They're trying to make it realistic but it ends up being more painful than anything.

I am surprised jumping is not governed by an attribute and scales as you move up in ability. It should matter. However I don't want to see a bunch of people jumping around like idiots. Say, what is pvp like in regards to jumping?

My beef is that ZOS doesnt understand the concept of "Conservation of Momentum."
When you jump, you are slowed down to a fixed jumping speed.
Thats not how physics 101 works.
No, if youre moving fast; i.e sprinting, your jump velocity should be preserved, but its not.
    Really irritating.
Even WoW got this right, and its been around for nearly 4x as long.

Its mainly because of the game engine. ESO engine is horrible. Even tho Havok physics is great, the Hero one is a really bad.

Another thing that annoys me is the fact that we can't hold on the edges :s
“Kings of the land and the sky we are; proud gryphons.” Stalker stands, the epitome of pride. Naked and muscular, his wings widen and his feet dig in as if he alone holds down the earth and supports the heavens, keeping the two ever separate.”

I like jhumping in this game. think of other games where yiou can't jump at all? GW2? Crying about jumping in this game is like crying in africa that all you get to eat 24/7 is MacDonalds. Aty least ou get to jump, 1st world problems.
