It's fun take flighting up onto a outpost filled with 30+ enemies only to kill 1-2 or none then fall to my demise. I hope they keep it this way for a while since it's pretty fun imo.

This is deemed an exploit by ZOS, and is not allowed in the game. Should you be caught doing this and reported, then you can be banned. Some have even been permabanned because of their attitudes and actions surrounding the use of this exploit.

Should you see people using this exploit, you should report them immediately.

I've reported people jumping into the keep while it was undefended and made a video sent it to dara and jessicafolsom and guess what those same people I just saw them today and prior to that they were on everyday I was on now I work so I may not have gotten on for a couple days but they still were online playing ESO.

I've known this is considered an exploit but to me I feel if you the player is standing there raining hell on people what fun is that for the opposing team who has to come in and take the keep from you? It's not like I'm using NPCs to get in the keep or outpost (which you really can't get into a outpost unless it's from player v player). I feel ZOS may instead make this apart of siege warfare instead of coming after players.

@MaxwellCrystal they have however ramped up their policing of this since Jessica made another announcement the other day. There have already been a few people confirmed banned for doing this to the extreme as well as bragging about it on the forums.

Just be aware it's your choice at this point an no matter how fun it is or how you use it ZOS may take action and you won't have a defence.

I have reported this as well, but please show me where ZOS has definitely said it is an exploit.

    For those asking. @MaxwellCrystal @Orlacc
    Hey everyone,

We are working on making some tweaks to certain gap closers that players are using to bypass core keep capture mechanics. It is not intended that gap closers be used to enter keeps without downing doors and/or walls, or enter areas you otherwise would not be able to without exploiting (below Dolmens, under water, etc.) While we are aware that players are using certain gap closers to do exactly these things, we do considered this behavior an exploit.

If you see another player exploiting in this manner, you can send us videos or other evidence by submitting a customer support ticket, by sending them to anyone on the Community or Moderation team here on the forums, or emailing us at community@elderscrollsonline.com.

    Thank you!

    Edit.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_GinaBruno not wanting to keep hounding you and sounding like a broken record but once again this thread is a great example of why the above statement needs to be more visible. People still are not aware or believe it's an exploit.

This needs to be an announcement thread of its own and pinned and preferably announced via twitter/social media with a link on the launcher as well. Make sure the word is out there.

shouldn't have admitted that now every goody goody here will report you until ZOS fixes it you should be allowed to do it without fear of repercussions not his fault zos refuses to fix something thats so easy to pull off you would almost think its a part of the game keep it up.

It's entirely his fault if he uses it from this point on. He's seen the warning, he knows he shouldn't do it.

The "ZOS made the bug so it's not the players fault" is a bad argument because the entire point of the ToS stating exploiting bugs is not allowed is because of issues like this that make it live. You don't find many MMO companies out there which will accept "it's your fault you added the bug" as an acceptable excuse for a player making use of it.

Granted it's bad that ZOS let it go live and still have failed to address it with a patch, but end of the day it's deemed an exploit by them and if they choose to ban someone who uses it then the above excuse isn't acceptable.

It may be fun but unintended as you appear to be aware. Looking forward to it being fixed so defending is back to how it has always been intended.

While it is an exploit it is the responsibility of Zos to fix it since it creates an obvious imbalance.

    Indeed Maxwell.

I have never been entirely against classes getting onto keeps as it's a fun dynamic, but the current use was being abused by the few to ruin the fair play of Cyrodiil, so it's good that ZOS has stepped in this time.

It's not often they stand up against an issue like this when it's skill based so it's good progress towards a future of keeping Cyrodiil fair for everyone.

There are a few threads talking about adding skills or siege weapons to the game which would allow this by legal means, if you enjoyed the gameplay the bug offered you could throw your name behind those ideas to push them forwards to ZOS.

I think I saw one regarding a grappling hook and was all for it when it comes to being inside the keep trying to get into the inner wall.

I just wanna see how far ZOS takes this for banning people because there going to be really busy banning nearly everyone whos PVPed since DB either way if ZOS refuse to fix the problem why should players be held accountable how many people have done this exploit by accident that don't read the forums. Normally I would be against this sort of thing but the fact of the matter is its so easy to do your normal casual player might think its part of the game. Once again ZOS have fun banning everyone instead of fixing the problem great job don't work too hard I can't wait for those two new dungeons soon.

I think everyone is watching how ZOS handles this.

And players should be responsible because that's how MMO's work, bugs make it in (sometimes when known like this) but it's still on the players to know they shouldn't use it. I don't imagine they're going to go on a ban spree over people who accidentally jump onto a keep and hop off again, or even those who have a few times gone up and scuffled with players.

However at least one player who used it to openly troll PvP and then went bragging on the forums has apparently received a permanent ban for it. So each player has to ask are they willing to risk their account for something which they never needed before DB to have fun or take a keep.

Also I will agree that ZOS needs to make the fact this is an exploit much more visible, the fact I had to go back through my own posts to find that quote shows how much it's being buried and lost.

Most of this has been debated to death in the Cheats/Exploits thread though.

I've reported people jumping into the keep while it was undefended and made a video sent it to dara and jessicafolsom and guess what those same people I just saw them today and prior to that they were on everyday I was on now I work so I may not have gotten on for a couple days but they still were online playing ESO.

Nope. It's not intended. It's exploiting a bug. If you are caught doing so, then you may indeed be banned either temporarily or permanently. It may take a while, but you should be prepared to not be able to log in one day.

Hopefully ZOS can start speeding up the process of warning and/ or banning players who are exploiting in the game. We truly shouldn't have to keep having to deal with cheaters of whatever stripe they may be for any longer than is absolutely necessary.

This is where a live GM presence should be triggered. Put a couple of people"on-call" each day after hours and on weekends/holidays who are responsible for answering a text message alert that cheaters/exploiters have been reported in game, and so they log in and check out those players in action, remotely. During normal business hours, the job of answering reports of cheaters/exploiters rotates amongst a pool of employees so a couple are always available.

    1) Check logs to see what the reported player(s) have been up to recently.

2.) Check to see if the reported player(s) are still in the zone that they were reported in. If yes, go directly to them and observe their actions for further incidents.

Being proactive and directly active is how ZOS can quickly restore trust and a much fairer playing field. Ignoring things as they have been, and not swiftly punishing infractions is how to undermine the game until it eventually collapses.
