Dk passives for offense are the weakest out of any class, and the abilities themselves countered hard in the CP tree. Dot dmg and melee/magika resist CP stars stack, serverly limiting dmg potential. 3%dmg for fire/poison? Thats 300 dmg at 10k, and what ability hits for 10k? Your 7k flame lash is 3.5k so 112extra dmg per hit? And the 66% poison/fire effect relies on weapon enchats or destro, so no bonus weapon dmg/armor break for 6 seconds to utilize the extra 100 dmg provided. No access to a defile healing reduction which would make DoT abilities actually useful. Like i said, weak.
the basics premise for the class is a melee fire mage with heavy armor, yet have no discernible passives to support this ie (magika returns on fully charged melee hits, bonus weapon dmg/spell dmg for wearing heavy or using SnB, reduced CC effects from being a front line fighter etc.) During the " class optimizing" patch they forgot choking talons being a magika based physical dmg ability, so basically a waste of a slot unless your just a cc bot.
While the earthen heart passives are good, they dont make up for the bad. If you can sustain forever, but cant actually kill anything, whats the point?

Poison injection is better dot than any of my mag dk dots in pvp though.. cant even cleanse it with my dk and it shows up for 9k on the death recap sometimes.
