Greetings;

I have made only lower lever characters (under level 20) and have not found many instances where these skills are used. As you progress do these skills become more of a factor? Also, is there a percentage chance that they will not work? If so, how is it determined.

    They always work. Usually in repeatable quests, and just skip a fetch quest

    There is at least one Achievement that requires one of these skills to complete.

    They will save you legwork in quests if you use the Options when they come up. Sometimes you want to do the legwork, as the game will send you that way anyway, why not kill a few more mobs? But, sometimes, it can save some backtracking as you go along.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    These two skills are used as options in quests and I would advise you to learn them. I always choose them if I have the option and they make life muche easier :smile:

    Persuade and intimidate are only really used in dialogue during quests - they basically allow you to avoid paying gold or skip steps in quests to save time. They're not really necessary but will literally save you time, money, and effort when questing. They also, by virtue of their existence, unlock altered dialogue and interactions between player and NPC.

    Example:
    NPC has information that you need. They're not willing to just give it up, so you have four options:
    1. Go into town and find a banana for the smoothie they want to make. (get them to like you more and thus tell you what you want to know)
    2. Pay 368 gold. (Bribe)
    3. "It's really not that big of a deal. I see that you already have a mango, and that's a perfectly fine substitute for the banana. Why don't you help me instead?" (Persuade)
    4. "Who cares about your banana? Tell me what I want to know, or face the consequences." (Intimidate)

    2, 3, and 4 will all enable you to skip going into town and picking up a banana. 3 and 4 don't cost you any money. Persuade and Intimidate aren't always offered at the same time, usually it's one or the other based on the context. So it's generally nice to have both.

    Once you have the passive skill, it's guaranteed to work every time. I never thought about it before, but I think they do become a little more common as the game progresses. People are more likely to spend skill points on skills in the lower level areas, so it would make sense. I wouldn't say they're that uncommon – I'm kind of surprised that you haven't had a chance to use them yet.

    Even if you don't quest, the Intimidate skill now lowers the stamina cost of your fighter's guild abilities by 20% so you should definitely get it if you're playing a stamina character and plan on using fighter's guild abilities.
