Legendary quality glyphs

Powerburrito20
The whole glyph / item quality thing confuses me. You can put a legendary quality glyph on a non-legendary item right? But what happens to stats when you improve the item up to legendary with the glyph already attached?

The stats that the enchantment are base on the glyphs used so so I use a gold + 300 to whatever enchant on a white item that adds + 50 to otherstat. As you make the item better quality the items stats will go up but the enchant stays the same. For example using the item from above white +50 otherstat +300 whatever
    green +75 otherstat +300 whatever
    blue +100 otherstat +300 whatever
    purple +125 otherstat +300 whatever
    gold +150 otherstat +300 whatever

I hope this answers your question

How about if you add a glyph to an item that already has a glyph applied? Does it simply just overwrite the old one?

    Yes ...

Even though the glyph applied was already legendary quality?

The only time a Glyph improves with the item is on a dropped item that has a glyph on it already. I don't know if all dropped items do this, but most set items do.

If you apply a Glyph to an item, dropped or crafted, then that Glyph is what it is, no matter what you do to the base item.

Rule of thumb is, if you like the Glyph Effect, and your going to improve the item, improve it first, note if the glyph effect goes up or not, and if needed, replace it.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

As @Nestor says. Dropped sets scale the enchantment up, crafted sets or stuff you enchant doesn't.
