As I said above, XP potions won't help as they don't affect Reputation. The dailies in Kvatch and Anvil are no good either as they also don't provide any Reputation.

not sure how it works on pc or ps4 --- but without a potion , when you turn in a kill, you get around 35k xp. with a potion, you get 47k xp. maybe i wasnt paying attention but i thought that was going towards rep. if not, i wasted a bunch of potions.

Yeah you're half-right, potions do increase XP from kills. But that's all about XP, which goes towards the rest of your skills (Class, Weapon, Armor, etc), your Champion Points if you're above 50, and your level if you're below 50. Progress in each of the four Guild skill lines is not connected to XP at all.

I thought that was how it worked so I was going around ganking my way through the other stories and turns out nope. So now I can't continue the DB until I grind it out . And not every level gets a (overly hard anyone?) story quest. Hit level 4 and nothing.

This is a total necro, but...

Are you sure you didn't get a new DB quest when you hit DB level 4? For some of them you have to go back to the place where you usually talk to Astara, and then let some dialogue between NPCs play out before a quest giver marker appears.

Do the Sacrament daily quest that makes you go into a cave and creep around trying not to get noticed. That's worth 10 points a day right there. If you can accomplish ALL the optional objectives in that quest, it's worth 20. I've found it difficult to do all the optional objectives, though.
Other than that, I did a million of those assassinate-someone-in-a-city quests. It was tedious. So ... so ... tedious.

If I remember right the ones that require killing more than one target give you extra points. You can flip through the book for them and if it doesn't get one you want close it out and open up again until you get one you want and I found the ones where it tells you to kill I think it was three people in a certain area those ones seem to give you more points than the ones for killing one specific person.

If you have a collection of pre-laundered crap TG is quicker than DB since you just need to port everywhere and finish instead of positioning and killing someone.

Both are very fast if you know what you're doing.

Def not true. Look up fast leveling for TG with the Covetous Countess quest. You don't have to do anything but run back and forth and turn things in.
