Unable to initialize render device
Ok, I played this game with my wife a while back when they did an open weekend, and we had a lot of fun. We had been meaning to pick it up when the game went on sale.
Steam sale comes along, so we bought two imperial edition copies and installed.
Fast forward a bit and trying to hit play brings up a "Unable to initialize render device" error.
Search turns up a selection of threads implying that recent changes have basically dumped half of the playerbase of the game by the wayside, likely including me and my wife.
I just want to be sure there isn't actually a fix somewhere so we can play the game, before I go get my money back from steam.
Relevant notes:
OS: Vista 64
Video Card: GeForce 650 Ti
Everything else is more than sufficient of course. I see they changed their requirements to need win 7, but again, vista was fine up until at least a few months ago.
So, is there a fix or a workaround?
