From a long-time ES fan, there are some places where this game really succeed, and conversely some places where I wonder if you're trying to disenfranchise as many players as possible. Below are some of the things that I recommend adding, fixing, removing, or considering. Take a look.
Community, feel free to add to, elaborate on, or tweak these suggestions:
Guilds
Right now, I don't see the guilds in ESO as real guilds. Each player has their own affiliations for whatever purpose they're trying to obtain, but there's little guild loyalty or rivalry from what I observe on a daily basis.
- Guild Rewards - Guilds need to be rewarded for their success. From what I see, there aren't really any tangible benefits to PvPing with your guild, other than a trader slot in Cyrodiil, that frankly I rarely bother with, as i'm often racing off to the next objective rather than shopping. Perhaps some trophies, gold rewards, gear, special heraldry items that can make the guilds stand out.
- Guild Rankings - This is important to maintain a competitive edge for guilds, and could and should be tied to the guild rewards.
- Guild Resource Rewards As part of the benefit of capturing and claiming objectives in Cyrodiil, guilds could be rewarded with revenues over time for holding those resources. Similar to the points system for scoring in campaigns, the guilds could get increased revenues the longer they hold. (Whatever limits are appropriate for this, I would say no more than one town, keep, and resource simultaneously per guild.
- We Need Guild Halls/Housing - Having a common, private space for guilds to mingle, plan, socialize, trade, or otherwise interact is an important part of making that guild, well, a guild. It's also a great place to display those trophies and bonus heraldry items mentioned above. It should also include bulletin boards, where messages and information can be disseminated similar to the MOTD, but more open to smaller communications so MOTD can stay very high-level.
- More Guild TradersWhile I think there should be scarcity to maintain a healthy in-game economy, there could be more guild traders. I'd love to see some roaming guild traders, which have pre-mapped paths through the zones with brief stops at each major city or even some small bazaar villages. Maybe this could even just be a travelling bazaar that sets up shop in obscure locations around Tamriel. It could be camps near those one-off traders all throughout the world. This would allow that guild's wares to be sold throughout Tamriel, both providing notoriety for the guild and some attention to those poor fellas that nobody wants to take the time to visit (although i like the deals I get out of those traders sometimes). This could help drive down the astronomical price of Traders.
- Guild Hired Keep/Resource/Town Defense This one could be fun. As part of the benefit of capturing points in Cyrodiil, the guild could also pay for defenses. The ability of guild leaders with appropriate permissions to hire limited numbers of additional NPC's or reinforce the walls to a pre-determined limit. Raise the stakes and make the capture points more desirable.
- More Customized Guild Heraldry We should be able to do deeper customizations to the Guild Heraldry. Perhaps a Headband, Arm Band, Shield Wrap, Sash, or cloak. Better yet, the option to pick any one or two either at the guild or player level. The tabbards just don't really do justice.
PvP
PvP is kind of a mess. Per a previous thread, I really feel like it's due to the cross-alliance players. There are too many players who jump on the bandwagon to grab campaign rewards every cycle. I'm not really ever in the top 10, and surely not at the end of the campaign, but I usually place pretty well, and still end up with Keep Wall Repair Kits and a few gold. It's infuriating that just because I don't decide to dip out on my faction 2 days into the campaign, I get shafted. Whereas Johnny Fickle Fingers decides to constantly root for whoever is winning gets his gear drops. We need to do something to instill some faction pride here.
- Disable bank sharing across alliances This is the simplest way to stop the scenario above, while still allowing players to 'experience' all three factions.
- Disable creating characters in different alliances This is more controversial, but also not really detracting from anyone's experience. Seeing as how most of us have the any character any alliance perk, it doesn't limit our builds. Also, since we can play through all three factions on each character, you don't really lose out on any content by removing this feature.
- Combine Disabling characters with enabling defection Simply add a mechanism whereby you can choose to defect a character, or even all characters, by way of quests, tasks, etc... Don't make it unattainable, but make it inconvenient at the very least.
General Fun Stuff
Here are just a few suggestions that would add to the overall experience.
- Player Housing - Please make this in-game content. Please do not put this behind a pay wall. I have ESO Plus, and I pay absurd amounts of crowns for silly mounts and goofy costumes, but please, please don't put content behind pay walls. It should be in-game currency, and should be available for trade between players. I can only drool over what a real estate market would add to this game's economy. It should be available for players to visit, and include trophy rooms, armor mannequins, weapon racks, etc..
- Customized Mount Armor/Heraldry - We should have the ability to *minimally* customize our mounts' armor and color scheme. Maybe alliance-based, race or motif based, or even just a few pre-selected options. We should also be able to have some guild heraldry for our mounts. Maybe caparisons? I would also love to see a Guidon or something. Maybe Guild Leaders can select a party member to carry a Guidon into Cyrodiil. That would be pretty cool.
- Dyeable Weapons - Personally, my nightblade mainly wears black/red/brown, so Rubedite is fine for him. However, I see the issue for people into Greens, blues, yellows, or whites. It would be nice to be able to dye them. (we could call it resin if you'd like).
- Portals - I mean, there are way shrines and all, but it just bugs me that Aelif could port my ass around all day long but a "Master Wizard" can't get a frog from Skywatch to the water. Even if they have limited capabilities to whatever end minimizes abuse, they would be cool. Example: Player places a rune or marker at a portal destination (in person). The player can later open a portal to that recall location which other players can also use. Can only be opened once every 2 minutes. Only open for 20 Seconds. Cannot be ported into Dungeons, Delves, Cyrodiil, Trials, etc.. It would be good to help people who are on new characters asking for someone to let them travel to them at a city they haven't unlocked yet and could also turn into a paid service for people who want to get closer to their destinations.
- Animal Taming - This could be a skill line. I would really expect something like this to come with the Bosmers, but understand why it would be unbalanced. I would love to see players be able to tame a pet or even a few pets who could actually come fight with the character in PvE and PvP. Those pets could be named, and eligible for revives or not. The current pets are not very interactive, and this could be a great alternative. These combat-effective pets should NOT be available for purchase in the Crown Store.
- Neutral Zone(s) - Maybe a place
Again, Just some suggestions that I feel would make the game more immersive and engaging for both casual and intense players.
It is not your ability, so much as your willingness to do what is right that will set you apart from the rest.
