How can I accurately determine my "baseline" dps?

I have two gear setups, one full set of hunding rage, and one full set of TBS. Both with a side of Nightmothers gaze. When switching from hunding rage to TBS I lost about 400 weapon damage and 5.4% crit chance. Now I have 64% crit chance with 3287 weapon damage. I've noticed when I get fully buffed, meaning major beserk and my Increase Weapon/Spell damage for 5 seconds both are up, I'm over 4k like before but I'm now hitting 7k - 10k on jabs.

Now fully unbuffed, I still hit harder than I used to. But I'm wondering if my DPS is really increased or decreased for PvE group/trials play. Is there any enemies that are good to test dps on? From what I can tell, TBS gives me 20k baseline dps, and Hunding rage gives me 18k baseline dps. I did both of these on the same enemy, did them several times just spamming the jabs. Each time it was about the same, but hunding even went as low as 13k where as TBS never went below 15k.

There is a lot of procs and rng that is involved here, is there anyway I can isolate all of my rng and see what I'm actually hitting for compared to hunding rage? I seen deltias video and build which is why I got TBS but I don't know if I'm actually doing more dps in general than before.

Certain World Bosses are good for this. Problem with them is, your DPS will reduce as you run around to avoid their attacks.

However, most people go abuse Mammoths for initial testing as you don't have to move around all that much for ranged attacks before you take them out. At higher Champ Levels, you have a 100,000 plus Health points to burn down.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Like Nestor I usually use Mammoths/Giants in Wrothgar for basic testing. However, you need to keep in mind a few things if you do:
    • With any decent build the fights are short (10 sec) so you need to keep the test simple (just use one ability) and do multiple tests and take the average. The fights are no where near long enough to test most skill rotations.
    • Keep it simple and eliminate as many variables as possible to keep the test identical. Often I won't even use your typical buffs since the fight is so short. So long as you're doing the same tests and changing one thing you should get a half-decent result.
    • For example, I was recently testing the difference between my Nirnhoned and Sharpened weapons. I used no buffs and just spammed Puncturing Sweeps on a dozen or so Mammoths. I then switched weapons and did another dozen Mammoths and compared the average DPS of the two set of tests.

For a more accurate test you can find a friend (tank/healer) and solo Bloodspawn in vet Spindle. The tank/healer just tanks and heals you, letting you do all the damage.

A few people I know use the Adjucator in White-Gold Tower (the harvester) as well as Blood Spawn. I'm not quite sure what that offers, a prolonged fight perhaps?

Mammonths/worldbosses are bad for testing, they dont have much health. You can just burst them for, lets say, 60k, but it wont mean you cam pull 60k dps. You can get a lot of lucky crits and very high numbers in that short fight.
Speaking of dungeon bosses, Bloodspawn (with tank and healer, no 2nd dd) is more or less reliable, but if you have 30k or more dps it just melts.
Nowadays vet SO Manti is a good example of long st boss fight (well if other players wont blow you up with explosive runes).
Adjudicator is a bad dps test imo, its a daedra, has adds and you have a chance to get locked in cage.

I wasn't exactly clear in the purpose of "Mammoth" test, and perhaps it wasn't what the OP wanted anyways. I don't use Mammoths to get my "DPS Number". As you say, the fight is far to short to get anything meaningful. I use Mammoths/Giants to compare simple changes in my build's DPS. For example:
    1. Sharpened vs Nirnhoned vs Precise Weapons
    2. Exact assignment of damage CPs (which ones have higher DPS)
    3. Julianos vs Seducer vs TBS vs Kagrenac sets

Ideally you'd do a test like Bloodspawn but this is time consuming when you need to compare many different options. The "Mammoth" test won't give you a DPS number but will give you the approximate potential gain/loss of DPS for different options.

Bloodspawn is a pure burn fight
