(PvE) Thinking about using no skills or abilities, need advice!

I've been going through so many builds and setups that I've just got no clue on how I'd like to play.

I'm only going to be playing the PvE content (particularly the stories) and so I'm not going to dabble in PvP. My question is, can I get by with using JUST the weapons I have in hand? No class or weapon abilities, only using food, drinks and potions (which I'm planning on crafting) for health. So basically like what you can do in Skyrim; can I fully complete every story in the game (PvE) dual wielding an axe and sword, no ability bar?

Thanks!

Should be dooable for any dungeon without a dps race. I do pledges every morning and from what I am seeing people quite appear to be doing just that. Its going to make for some really slow dungeons, especially in aoe phases but its dooable in some. It would also be pretty disrespectful to the people in your group if they didn't know ahead of time so make sure people know.

As for solo quests you could do it with a lot of health recovery and mitigation. I would use a two hander on one bar for the splash damage.

I'm guessing this is to make the content harder. I agree with @armitas that the 2hander is probably your best pick. Its a shame that this game doesn't have combination moves, because it would make this kind of gameplay you are suggesting more interesting than light heavy block and roll.

You will get kicked from groups if they find out. But its hard not to notice that tho.

Thanks for the advice everyone! So it's possible to do this while solo questing?

Also, I agree that it'll be disrespectful towards people if I'm in a group with them, but I don't really plan on playing that content, only the solo story quests and the solo story DLC.

You can do solo pve content naked barefisted
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

You're going to have a very hard time, even in solo questing. This game was not built to accomodate that kind of gameplay.

2 handed weapon and a tanky race (I'm thinking imperial)

Also, and this might seem like an odd choice, I'd recommend using Blood Alter from Undaunted, at least in the lower levels, to help you get a little extra self healing.

Throw in 2 or even all 3 armor actives and that will increase your survivability as well (and not like you will be hurting for slots)

Every once in a while the last boss in a quest series might be a challenge without skills on your bar. A few of them them recover health quickly, so just light and heavy attacks might not be enough and they might remain at max health.

That sounds extremely boring to be honest. Maybe it would be fun to dual friends that way.. But to play through the whole game? If it had gameplay like "Chivalry" then I would be all for it.

I've done it before using just a resto staff, trash are easy but bosses and harder mobs require a lot of patience and frustration. Do able just isn't easy

But like op I've changed a lot I can never make up my mind. I respec at least once a week lol.

You say no abilities, but does that include no passives too?

This is hilariously absurd. It's like asking "Hey, can I go into active combat in the military but not shoot my gun?"
Yeah, sure, you can pull your underpants over your head and rush the enemy position and attempt to bludgeon them with your shoe, but ya see, they don't have the same nonsensical problems with just shooting your ass dead.
If you try to solo quests, you're likely going to die, repeatedly.
If you do this in my dungeon group, I will laugh, call you names, and kick you.
If you do this in PvP, people will love you. The people that're farming you for points, that is.
I doubt you'll be able to complete even the simplest and easiest content in the game like that.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure this isn't a troll post it's so tacitly absurd.
Its like; "I wanna play Pac-Man, but I wanna only have to press left." Actually, if 12 skills boggles your mind this much, maybe you should go back to Pac-Man. And for your own health, don't even look at an MMO like WoW where you can have 50-80 skills on your Hudson at once, you might have a seizure trying to process it all.

Get the Kvatch Gladiator set (crafted), which will boost your light and heavy attacks against low health targets by ton.
Another option would be Torug's Pact set with infused weapons and Disease/Poison enchantments, or anything that you feel is useful really.
For other sets, just get as much weapon damage as possible. Forget about stamina recovery, you aren't using any stamina for skills and will recover a lot with heavy attacks. Briarheart would be useful for weapon damage and healing, but is harder to get.

Health sustain could be a problem, but if you want to bank on potions, consider enchanting your jewelry with alchemy glyphs. Use lingering health potions (butterfly wings + torchbug thorax + scrib jelly).

You could also play a tanky build with one-hand and shield that focuses on bash damage, but that would be really something else.

op can play any way they want, but have no business joining in any group content with what they are proposing. you would be wasting the time of the people you are grouping with.

You could always use a few toggles and passives, like Bound Armaments and Expert Hunter for extra baseline power.

Short answer : Yes. I would'nt recommend it though.

Long answer: If you are knowledgeable and know all mechanics its possible. For solo play. Even then, you'd need at least 1 or 2 DPS skills or passives to help u through the tougher ones. Strongly advise against this for group play. You will get kicked.
