ZO$ has still not implemented weapon dye?! Proof the Devs do not play this game?!

If you have played a max level character with a staff you understand the frustration that is running around with a shiny bright red staff that looks RIDICULOUS if you are wearing armor that is anything, but shiny bright red!! This leads me to believe that no one who works on this game has every played a max level character with a staff! Otherwise, weapon dyes would have been a priority by now!

LOL So yes... You have that huge red spike on your back and it so damn hard to make it match with any good coloring for light armor gear...
staves arent even that bad its the swords and 2h that really are the worst

At least when you are using those most of your armor is Leather and the colors are less faded. You can actually add bright red to your outfits without it looking pink or faded brick color. Try finding a red that works well with light armor and that comes even close to the bright color you get on your staff.

Theve recently said on ESO live that they had a lot internal discussion about this. Whats there to discuss? They decide to put in hat dyes but not weapon dyes? I dont get the logic.

Well I do... logic = money. They can make money off selling hats. Theres no money in giving people weapon dyes :/

They actually said there have been a lot of "HEATED" internal discussions about this... and my question is, WHY is it heated and WHAT explanation can ZOS provide that we can dye metal armor made from the exact same material as weapons?!? Let players play how WE want ZOS, stop dictating 'from on high' to those who are paying your salaries by buying, subbing, and making purchases while playing this game! We're tired of you decide how ridiculous our weapons can be... check out the BRIGHT RED Akaviri staff for example... and you guys worry about someone with a pink sword?!? If anything you should have kept the weapons a neutral tone regardless of material used... but you devs were the ones who started making funky weapon colors and then claim you won't let players dye our own because you're afraid of what colors we would come up with; I find ZOS' attitude to be quite arrogant.

One being the EU server being our for maintenance on Monday and Tuesday - didn't matter if you were a developer or not, nobody was playing :(

Though they failed to explain because ZOS + Communication = LOL, one of those maintenance breaks was due to the server provider having to do some maintenance of their own. Several websites and services were apparently affected, though I am pretty sure others bothered to inform their clients in a timely manner.

Well obviously there are a dozen things I could come up with that would be a bigger priority, but they are introducing costume dyes in the next patch?! It seems to me if they were going to commit resources to costume dyes they could have gave us weapon dye by now! I mean seriously do I need to post screen shots here? Have you seen a Ruby Ash staff?! It's completely stupid!

Costume dyes are nice but wasn't needed. Weapons dyes ARE NEEDED

Needed; fixing lag and glitches and broken quests.

NOT NEEDED; weapon dyes to make you look pretty.

Does the weapon function? Yes? Then there isn't an issue.

Does the weapon glitch/not function correctly? Then there is an issue.

Can you color the weapon pink/orange/puce/fuschia/mauve/green/black/whatever? No? Still not an issue. Between the things that do matter like quest fixes and the fact your weapons clash with your ensemble, the clashing isn't a real problem.

Many players enjoy the look of this game as much as the game play. As evidenced by the 10,000 different motifs in the game that people still chase. If you don't care at all about how your character/the game looks then go play SWTOR or the like.

That said, they are likely coming after costume dyes. But costume dyes have been a higher priority for players since costumes came out.

It's a stretch to suggest the lack of weapon dye ability is proof they do not play the game. This is especially so since we can dye shields which was not possible at implementation of the system.

Not being funny but I'm assuming, like me, that the development team couldn't give a toss about weapon in dying. I'd actually be really annoyed if they did, because there is so much more that needs addressing and fixing. Weapon dyes.... Give me a break!

I'm a fan of my cotton-candy Abyssal Beryl and Dibella's Blush jester, myself.

Weapon dyes will probably come after costume dyeing, though. They're probably testing the system right now to make sure everything works as expected with dyeing costumes. Then, if I have this mental image right, they'd have to take every model of every possible weapon (that's a lot, if you couldn't guess) and mark specific areas of the weapon as dye-able. It's probably just a matter of resources.

Add one more regular Cyrodiil campaign. Add one more that only unlocks if the other two are 100% full.
Reduce population cap by 3% on each campaign.
Reduce the rain instances in the game by 90%.

There. Major performance issues well on their way toward being solved.

Ok, let me rephrase this. The problem really is that there already is weapon dye. Our weapons are already funky colors! Unfortunately they are the funky colors that ZO$ has chosen for us! So I guess what I am calling for is to take away the weapon dye! Make them the color of normal weapons! Brown for wood and grey for steel! How's that?! I mean seriously how much work could that take?!

Rubedite ingots are bright red, make red weapons.

Voidstone ingots are bluish-black and make bluish-black weapons.

I don't like the whole "devs don't play their own game lol" narrative but I DO like the idea of weapon dyes! Last ESO live they said they were still having a lot of heated conversations about it, but it's time to lay it to rest and just give the people what they need. Weapon dyes hurt nobody and help most people. If it's a coding issue just say so, but if it's still a development direction issue then it's time to let it go!

Yes, because all wood is a uniform brown color. http://www.wood-furniture-manufacturers.com/type-of-wood.html

And all steel is gray. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tempering_(metallurgy)#/media/File:Tempering_standards_used_in_blacksmithing.JPG

Given the materials the weapons are crafted from in-game, I think the colors are rather appropriate. Rubedite blades aren't the bright shiny rubedite ore color. Iron weapons aren't the copperish red of the iron ore nodes.

Obviously it matters to you. However many players would rather have issues fixed before worrying that their sword is some color that doesn't match their outfit. Motifs are easily seen. I don't really care if my weapon's color is beyond my control as long as it matches the style I wanted.

Yes, but the point I was trying to make was that they're not "funky colors ZOS has chosen for us", as if they decided to make your weapons bright red for giggles. In any case, it's clear that armor dyeing was designed without weapon dyeing in mind, but as I said it will probably be a pain to go back and edit every model of weapon to mark it with dye zones, as it most likely was with armor. One that they'll probably undertake eventually for a future QOL-focused update but one I don't really see being a priority. I hope that was clearer (:
