What's with all the long skirts on armor?

Seriously, i seems that every new armor coming out these days has a long skirt or flaps everywhere. I have no problem with this if it makes sense. For example, the Order of the Hour armor (Akatosh) is very clearly based off of Roman gear, so that makes sense. However, Dark Brotherhood... assassins with long skirts instead of tight fitting gear, similar to Assassin's League... wut?

Nightblades are actually mages using magic for stealth, so it makes sense for there to be robes with the Assassin/DB Motif

Plus, Armored Robes look cool :D

There's different roles among the Dark Brotherhood. Most are foot soldiers who are going to wear gear more in line with the Assassin's League, but some are basically priests who spend less time assassing than tending to more administrative functions. Similarly, not all assassins need to get their hand dirty. The Brotherhood has as many casters as knifers.

    Not everyone needs skin-tight armor.

I know, it just seems cumbersome to give medium and heavy users a padded skirt or metal plates on someone that is meant to be silent and agile.

    But, clearly, it's not.
You've assigned it an inappropriate role.
