Guild Faction LOCKED

So I wrote this mail to Support:

"I have a HUGE problem. I'm the guildmaster of a successful and growing DC oriented guild that I created 2 years ago and have only recently started to focus my attentions of building. Half of the objectives of the guild include being able to claim resources for the 'Hollow City Herb Co' in cyrodiil so members can quickly shop for supplies and continue the battle. I had NO IDEA that there was such a thing as faction specificity and only upon trying to take a resource did I find out that for some reason and chosen not by myself that the guild is locked to EP!!! Can you please please please please please change my guilds faction to DC?? PLEASE!! haha. It makes a huge difference in being able to continue with this guild that so far I have put a LOT of effort and gold into creating so that other players can make some gold and have some fun.

and got this response:

I definitely understand not wanting to lose your guilds progress when you have made the switch to a different faction since the guild was created. I sincerely wish I could provide more help for this, but currently we do not have any ability to change the faction of a guild.

Just wondering who would like it made possible to change the Faction of a guild?

I made the guild 2 years ago and had absolutely no idea that faction locks in guilds was even a thing. I have 9 DC alts so I don't even know how it was made EP in the first place

Pretty sure you choose a faction with the guild, but it could also just go by whatever the character that made it is.

It may default to EP as well. I can't tell you because I never made a guild.

I made 1 on day 1 of consoles and it's an AD guild. My main, whom I made the guild from, is an AD character though but if I recall correctly I had a choice but I could be remembering incorrectly...

*shrugs* It's not like faction choice really means much in this game anyway- unless you're PvPing in Cyrodil.

They've convoluted the faction system so much over time now that I really don't even know why they bother keeping the Alliance system altogether for everything non-PvP.

If it was an "open world PvP" game, I'd understand it- but at present, it's rather mediocre.

When the game was first announced, and later I saw the first teaser videos, I got the impression faction choice would actually mean something... then I played the game and realized that the factions we locked away from each other for no real reason than giving each Alliance a sense of "identity" rather than meaningful purpose. (PvP areas are of course, more obvious) To me, the premise of being locked into content because of faction choice is resonant of action/consequence, and being committed to a path, but then again that's my personal take on it. Want to play with someone else who chose another faction? Roll a character in their faction, then. (etc, etc.)

Personally, I think Zenimax really needs to think hard on the choices they're making with regard to affecting the Alliance/faction systems- but it's their game.
