Technically you don't need to but if you want there are some places, if people are willing to reveal them :p You can also always visit Cyrodiil once you hit Lv10.

Funny because if you Google search for ESO grind locations you'll get a whole selection of various guides.

I believe that questing actually nets greater XP than grinding. This game actually kind of sucks for grinding.

I'd recommend finding a delve in Cyrodil other than crack wood cave that you like and has a decent return on investment of time.

I did some exploring when I was grinding pre-IC and eventually settled on a spot near the AD areas that had relatively good exp and low traffic from other players.

Maybe it won't be as good as cracked wood cave but at least you'll be left alone.

However, I'd consider dropping a few bucks to buy imperial city - super worth it for grinding

I bolded the problem with telling people where decent grinding spots are...

Your best bet is to just quest, while killing EVERYTHING in your path. Til you find a grind spot you can call your own. One where there aren't more than 2 players at.

My personal favorites include areas that are blocked if you don't have the quest, or change after the quest is completed. The reasoning is if someone sees you grinding a spot, even if the spot sucks and you are only there because no one else is... They will start grinding there too because they think it must be good if you are there. I've seen people 10 levels over creatures grind in areas they no longer get exp or loot from, only because they see someone else there.

I believe that questing actually nets greater XP than grinding. This game actually kind of sucks for grinding.

Try putting a full set of Training trait gear on and see if this is true... since a full set can net you near 'cake week' XP increase for enemy kills; of course you can't be more than five levels above enemies or you get ZERO XP when in questing zones and below level 50. I typically march my way up through questing zones, moving upward to higher zones whenever I out-level the enemies. I find combining full Training traits with XP boosters I can level a new character within a couple of days, would be even quicker if I didn't also skyshard/lorebook hunt along the way.

you get the dlc because seriously wrothgar is the best for grinding by a distance too in my opinion. tried cyrodiil its okay xp but other players always there and hostile. not worth the time or effort

Go to the group dungeon closest to your level.

A lot of them have a loop. Just follow it and kill everything. If you can afford a XP potion + training gear it's even better.
