So I'm in the DC and I'm currently in daggerfall. I'm about to go get Lyris. Will I travel anywhere else? Or will I have to wait until everything else opens up after I beat the main story?

You can go sightseeing from the start, only as you progress through the zones the monsters will eventually become too high level for you.

There are several exceptions - if you travel to a 'leveled' zone, like wrothgar, your level will be artifically boosted so that you can adventure there despite monsters being high level.

This will change once the announced "one tamriel" will go live, after that all zones will be leveled, and so you will be able to adventure wherever you'd like.

Completing the main story is not really needed to enter anywhere except the zones where the story takes place. But it is still recommended to do, as each step in the quest rewards you with a skillpoint (and the story is decent too).

How do I go about doing this? (I've read the quide, but it's still a little foggy.) I've only been able to travel back and forth from Daggerfall, Betnikh, and Stros M'Kai. Will the other places unlock the further I level up, or will I have to wait until the main story to access the other DC areas? Also, I know that I can visit other factions after I finish the main story, does this also mean I visit every single area from that faction, like all 21 of them?

You just walk. If you continue all the way to north end of glenumbra (the zone where daggerfall city is in) you will eventually arrive in stormhaven (the 20-25 zone). On the way, everytime you pass near a wayshrine, it will be activated for you and you can port there from anywhere in the world. Once you have stormhaven wayshrines active, you can port there directly. From stormhaven you can walk to rivenspire, bangkorai, and there's an NPC at wayrest docks that will get you across water to alik'r desert.

To reach the other alliance's lands, you either have to level up to 50(at this point the wayshrines in their lands become active and can be ported to), or wait until the 'one tamriel' expansion launches, whatever comes first.

It all opens up with time. For now, run out of Daggerfall and start adventuring.

Its not very obvious, but if you follow the road north from the city at the north end of glenumbra(crosswych, i believe), you will eventually get a loading screen and appear in stormhaven.

Also, come the autumn, there will be changes to Tamriel so that it will no longer matters what alliance you are in. All players can quest together.

Also you will be scaled to the area of the level you visit so anyone will be able to quest anywhere. This will improve the game greatly from the start for those who are the natural explorers.

If you do the main story questline, the fighters guild questline, the mages guild questline, and pick up all the skyshards in your alliance (EP ?), you should hit lvl 50 and be ready to do the quests in cold harbor. You have to do any of the side quests, although some are fun. Big thing here is make sure you get as many skill points as possable before entering higher lvl areas, (or leveled up area.) You can enter Wrothgar at lvl 10, and get leveled up, but if you don't have the skills bought with SPs, you'll end up getting killed within the first few encounters.

Be ready for the quest in coldharbor? Am I not high enough level to go get Lyris with ease yet?

Ha ha.. I'm a big fan of The Witcher, especially Witcher 3 and can't wait to dive into Blood and Wine. Just have to reach 501 CP here in ESO first.

Geralt of Rivia is one lucky dude. This is what ESO is missing. We need a good love interest or something.. not so much of the brothels, although, maybe some will differ. Lol!
