Any suggestions for vMA?

I have been stuck on vMA for weeks now, and I was just able to beat the third arena and move onto Seht's Flywheel. Unfortunately, however, I seem to barely be able to scratch the giant dwarven spider boss at the end. Does anyone have any suggestions for beating it?

my advise would be to dps during the fire phase too, as adds are based on a timer. the faster you kill it the easier you make it on tourself.

Magic NB seem to be the best, magic Templars seem pretty good too.

    Clench your butthole.

    Seriously, play normal a few dozen times to get the mechanics in real time, then take on lots of PvP and solo normal dungeons. Doing the above, you get the following;

1 mechanics of the arena, a VITAL step in succeeding.

2 Survival instinct. There is a reason PvPers tend to do better in vMA. Survival is key, and learning when to block, when to dodge roll, where to go to break line if sight or preemptively avoid red.

3 Lose the reliance on group play. In 4 mans, sometimes you get away with stuff because others pick up the slack. In vMA, there is no team. You take all the hits, you don't get a pocket healer, and you HAVE to be doing damage. This may result in build changes, but these will be self sustaining ones and help you in vMA.

As for your particular problem, stay under and whack him for a bit, then use the time it is spewing fire to range down ads. Don't stray too far from him like I did for a while, or his lightning decides to teach you the hard way how shocking this dungeon is. (Not sorry)

    @SG_Celerrimus What up my man!

Ok do you mind sharing some more information regarding your build/cp/stats the whole enchilada basically.

First bit of suggestion for anyone trying to complete VMA on first run through is to grab all sigils. Doesn't even matter if you need it or not just be ready to knab them when they up. You are going for completion, not score....

That being said if you are having this much trouble(which don't worry I did as well) with VMA in the early phase lvls to me it's really pointing out your set up.

You have to be Jack-Master of all trades, so Healing - DPS - Utility you have to have a build and set up to basically do it all.

Are you stamina or Magicka I can only assume stamina as you are having this much trouble. It took me a solid 2 weeks to beat VMA. It's not easy and it will try your patience beyond its normal set point. So be prepared!

Every time you face a situation pause for a secound and view that scenario for what it is. Come up with a plan and try and execute that plan the next go around.

Breathe, take breaks do what you have to do to ready your mind for the mental state VMA puts you in. I can promise you it never gets easier. You may learn to beat it in an hour post an amazing score, be the top dog in your guild. Only to open that final chest to have a piece of jewelry go into your inventory. It will mess with your head hard to believe me when I say you have to ready your mind.

So yeah OP Throw me some more info about how you are running this and I will be glad to give what advice I can.

I am using a build very similar to the one posted by Gilliam here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/243441/end-game-stamina-nightblade-build-pve-dps/p1
and I am currently at cp 291 as of this posting.

I got stuck on the second one for ages because of all the blades making me panic. (I'm squishy by design and Vigor is my only heal.) Now I'm up to arena 8 after putting it down for a while. If I had to offer stamblade advice, it'd be positioning. Most of my problems were due to bad positioning. Running out of one red circle into another, getting caught in a mob of enemies, those stupid frigging poison flowers and stupid frigging ice trolls, all positioning problems. It's as much about enemy mechanics as it is about spatial awareness.

Oh, and I've had a lot more success running the Wrothgar max health/stam recovery food than I did the health/stam food. It's something like Orzoga's Tripe Trifle Pocket. I have 29k stamina unbuffed, but it'll bump my recovery up to nearly 2k which is great for the sustained fights vMA demands.

but no really, those flowers and round 5 in general are awful 2/10

So Gilliam has a bunch of builds I will have to sift threw all that to see what's going on there...

The Engin Guardian Boss helps to have caltrops if you are a stam build so you just run around in a circle training the mobs and caltrop them every so often to prevent them from catching up no you. Meanwhile you just DPS like crazy on the boss.

Try and go all out from the get go and remember when he stops for the 3rd time there is a 2handed stam sorc mob that will pretty much streak into you and kill you so take him out right away.

When the boss is in fire mod drop barrage - Caltrops and anything that will just sit there ticking the boss away while you do some laps and avoid the red circles.

That CP is low for doing VMA not to say it can't be done but yeah it's pretty low. Work on getting your grind on and get that CP count up cause it's pretty important to have as much CP in there as possible. Can it be done with low CP, sure but it just makes it easier when you are fully boosted than just slightly in the case of your CP count.

For my stamina builds I use - Briarhearts (jewerly - 2x armor) W/. (Input whatever 5piece set you like Hundings - Night Mothers - TBS)

The Briarhearts heals are so amazing for VMA and PvE period it allows you to stack dots and self heal w/ sustain all day.

How much single target DPS can you do normally and have you tested that out at all? This fight is wierd for DPSing cause the boss is moving around and being a little punk. So yeah you have to kind of dance around in his green circle of happiness then avoid being hit by all the lined ability attacks the dwemer will be shooting at you.

Are you using fighters guild ultimate cause it's pretty decent now and it will allow you to beef up your weapon DMG. Are you using Thief stone.

I usually runs somewhere around 70-80% crit in VMA but I also use Briarhearts mixed with something else that has crit and I'm also a khajit on my stam sorc.

I have beaten it with stam DK and stam SORC both builds are around the same.

If you are not using 2hander the self heal from rally is so good in there it's a burst heal in times of need. So that is something I will suggest.

I will be taking sometime to go over that build now by Gilliam.

    Hope that helps.

    Remember grab all SIGILS!!!

for that boss I just ride its arse. I use arrow barrw, jabs, and poison injection. mobs run up and get killed while I jab the boss. for green I fight under the boss, for fire I'm right behind it. You can get prettt darned close.

probably the easiest boss in maelstrom once you figure it out.
