Seems like it's more common with the patch. Not sure why, but it gets really frustrating lol

In my case it always involves an enemy with a bow. Though might be a coincidence idk.

Bow, 2H, NB skills is what happens to me the most when desync and/or instant kill. It's never a particular single ability, that's why I suspect it's lag.

I think it has linked to surprise attacks or nb skills in general, bc quite often when i fight with a stamina nb -even one- i get desync.

There may be several things that trigger an effect we would describe as health desync. One example would be animation cancelling cast time abilities (not channels). That would indeed happen more often during lag spikes as you don't have up to date visual feedback on the progress of your casting, causing you to take other actions which then bug out the cast time one. But it's not very difficult to desync someone's health without any lag by messing up the animations of uppercut or crystal shard with heavy attacks.

If you look at the FPS / Ping in this video they're both entirely playable. I'm not lagging.

I get this so often I play less and less now. If my healthbar reads 100% I don't see the need for heals then suddenly I'm dead. It's so annoying and there's no fix for it.

I figured I share my experience with desync as well. I've had the whole health desync happen to me just like others but I happen to have recorded what it looks like on another viewpoint.

No I do not try and purposely desync people when I fight them.. this just happened randomly.

@ToRelax I've also found health desyncs with the interplay of shields, taking damage and healing. So usually on my screen it would be people that would keep shields up constantly, they take damage and I heal. What seemed to be occuring was the sheild was visually capturing the healing(either my heal or their natural health regain) resulting in the blackening of the health bar. At first I thought this was skill specific, and it could be, but I get the feeling thinking more on my experiances it is most damaging effects.

Personally if I ever had a hot going and taking damage I'd usually desync. Putting up a shield always seemed to result in a health desync (if damage was taken). This is the perspective of a habitual bwb healer. Also as many know lag was usually at a minimum in bwb, health desyncs would happen with any amount of players no dependant on lag.

I'll also tag @Zheg since I'm pretty sure the vet, erm whatever the not bwb is called now, campaigns have a similar experiance. And I know Zheg has written on health desyncs before.

Fun fact Sypher pointed out in the first pts edition of db that health desyncs were happening more frequently.

I'm wondering if the extreme prevalence of bows is part of the problem, as since 1.3 bows have had severe Desync issues. I remember repeatedly murdering Fireshot with a bow cuz he simply didn't realize his health was low until he was dead. This patch has EVERYONE on a bow, perhaps they brought the desyncs back ?

While going through some clips last night, I also noticed my resource bars seemed to be desynced.

2.4 desyncs seem different from previous versions. For example, in previous versions a desynced health bar usually appeared to still have health after dying and would usually require a relog to fix. 2.4 desyncs are less obvious and seem to be fixed after respawning.

I would bet poisons play a role.

This patch seems to be so much worse with desyncs. I play often in the 2-5am pvp hours (EST), and I don't lag, yet get desynced often.

Bows are definitely the biggest culprit, though most likely not the only one. I can debunk whoever theorized it's due to shields, for months I played a tanky healer without any shields and was constantly health desynced.

Having high health when you're really at 20% hp is a huge problem for a game with such a low TTK. I'd also throw out there that having an entire group all between 4-28% hp permanently causes you to just blow through all of your magicka trying to keep people up because you don't know if you're just being fasalla'd, purge bug isn't working, negates, or any other gift from the combat team.

Seems ridiculous that a problem that's been in the game for such a long time still hasn't been addressed, or even acknowledged by ZOS. Gina just said they couldn't reproduce it back on that 75+ bug long TG patch thread that never got resolved. How many AAA mmo's are out there where 2 years after launch you find yourself asking if you could be granted the gift of a basic functioning health bar?

Pfft... all the explanations as to what a health desync here is WRONG. Come, ill tell all of ya the real TRUTH behind health desync and stutter ping in cyro.

    1. Eso servers are run by hamsters. For every X number of players online, an additional hamster has to start running.
    2. There is only Y number of hamsters. When X becomes so large that Y cannot keep up, every hamster has to start running faster. We shall call this speed Z.
    3. Z has to be larger than server load requirement. We shall call this L. When Z<L --> lag happens. This is because the poor hamsters are huffing and puffing on the wheel. When one of these hamsters slows down, a ZOS employee needs to use a tiny little whip cattle prod on said hamster. This makes hamster run faster to make Z=L.
    4. Health desync/crash/kicked to login screen happens when the cattle prod dosent work. Hamster concusses or faints instead of running faster. ie: Z<L. ZOS quickly has to replace this hamster from their hamster reserve that is only used in such situations. When the new hamster starts running, server side speeds up to catch up with client side calculations that were already sent to server. Hence, you see things like your HP suddenly drops to 0 from full, or rubberbanding ping etc.

    That is all. #EndCrueltytoZOShamsters
