In honor of pride month, some of the Requiem guild members got together to dye our armors to make a pride flag out of our characters. Wanted to share to let the LGBTQ community, their friends, and their families know that we care.

I'm not knocking this, I just don't understand how you can be proud of your preference...it's always baffled me.

I'm not proud that I like women or of the skin color I was born with, I'm proud of something that I achieved.

Surviving the hate and remaining true to who you are is an achievement every day. I take pride in respecting those who are no longer with us due to hate and ignorance of others. Hopefully, that show of support is stronger than ignorant forum trolling.

The reason that people are not generally proud of their sexuality, especially if they are straight is because they are the majority, and they do not ever get judged due to their sexual preferences. Even though it is wrong (and a little bit weird) that many decide to judge another person due to this, I think that it is a great thing for all to feel pride of their sexuality, whatever it may be. I am straight also, but my brother and some of my closest friends are gay, and they have had hard times because of it, and being proud, despite the masses telling you that it is wrong, is a strong and powerful message for all, I believe, and so I think that pride is the perfect sentiment. You should be proud of who you are, no matter who disagrees with it, in their own strange way

What if you were told, every single day of your life, that a major part of who you are is wrong, disgusting, unnatural, immoral or heretical? What if you were told this by your parents, your peers, religious and educational authorities and basically anyone in your community that you could look up to?

If this was the case for you, then being proud of who you are would be extremely difficult. Many people in this situation hide who they really are in fear of having their lives turned upside down. For a very long time my brother-in-law was in this situation. Thankfully he eventually confronted his true self and is now out, proud and even recently engaged, even though he had to sacrifice his relationship with his father just to be who he really is.

I'm not particularly proud that I'm a straight, white, cis male because none of that is all that hard to deal with in the society I live in. If I was not all of those things then I would have many more obstacles in my day-to-day life. John Scalzi has a good piece on this that appeals directly to us gamers.

    Cis male?

I understand that some places are still backwards in this regard but for the most part these days gays and the like are part of normal society so if anything, the waving of rainbow flags and marching in the street is singling you out to be different...when I thought the idea was to fit in comfortably with society and live your life how you want.
Waving flags makes you different from the rest of us who simply like what we like and don't push it in everyones face. It's 2016, it's time to stop being proud and simply be people.

I know a gay male whose home was broken into and vandalised about a year ago. This was in a small town, and the same friend was also beaten and admitted to hospital on a night out recently. This is people accepting..? The rates of suicide amongst young gay men is actually the highest of all suicide figures, and so highlighting and making people take notice is nothing but a great thing. Seeing my little brother go through bullying at school and depression now because of this as an adult... I would personally say that it can be very difficult for people, in fact.

If people want to show their pride for who they are, then why would anybody have an issue with that? If a person wishes to celebrate and shout from the rooftops about anything that is close to their heart, so what? As long as it means something to them, it harms nobody, and brings reassurance to those who may be going through a rough time IMHO.

We have a black history month so this is our version. We also celebrate Independence Day as well and I don't see anyone saying they do not understand this. The fact that we as gay people have to justify this post means we need a pride month. I am proud of who I am and what I am and nobody can take that away. It makes me angry when I read all the fear comments and I feel sorry for people. Personally I have found that the majority of people who have issues with gay pride are typically people who have questioned or are questioning their own sexuality.

I don't think either you or I are qualified to assess when LGBT people feel like they are accepted as a part of normal society. In fact, the continued existence of pride parades / photos leads me to believe that the LGBT community feels like there is more work to be done. So more power to them.

Sorry to hear about your friend and little brother, I abhor those who hurt people for simply being different. All I'm saying is that standing up to parade in the street also makes you stand out and makes you a target for those who have yet to accept it. There's nothing wrong with being gay and loving yourself for it, that's commendable. Parades won't make those backwards people in backward towns accept you any quicker, it will take time for them to see that you're normal people...there's still places where black skin is still treated differently so some places fall far behind of others. February doesn't make those people accept or understand black people, they're just closed-minded morons.
Pride in preference, skin color, nationality, etc. doesn't make sense to me but if it makes you feel better about yourself then more power to you.

I feel like I'm rambling nonsense now so I'll stop. :p

I think you're blinded by your own bias. Does anyone complain when a church group, motorcycle club, car club, art club, Veterans club or any other group of people have a celebration? No not really. When everyone can have a celebration without people worrying about it, then you can say things are fair and normal for everyone.

They made a guild photo is celebration of what they love. Get over it.

It is not about getting others to like us, it's about unity, support, freedom, and increasing personal acceptance. It's about feeling connections, being part of something, and not being alone in the world. That is what Pride month is about. We are not trying to make a push on others to accept us. We know who we are and we want everyone who is LGBTQA to feel accepted and be happy about who they are. Hope this sheds some light onto some of you who do not understand. And if we ever draw media attention, it is because we are different from the norm and others are curious about us. When I read the OP's comments for PRIDE month, it made me feel good. Thanks OP.

It's a stupid, suddenly popular term used to describe a person that identifies with the Gender they were born as. Many Anti-Heterosexuals on the internet use it as a derogatory insult.

That's nice for LGBT folks where you live. Here, however, in a large European country, I was told in middle school that same-sex attraction is a phase and in high school (5 years ago, so not exactly ancient past) that homosexuality is an illness, and that was actually one of the nicer things I've heard because that teacher logically concluded that since it's incurable, we should be respectful towards these people. I'm not going to repeat what I heard from priests and prominent politicians of our current ruling party, it sickens me even think about it.
Here I've known LGBT teenagers bullied into suicides, I've gone to the funeral of one of them - and if marching the streets waving rainbow flags helps even one of these kids feel that they're not alone, that they belong, then I'm going to march and wave with all the pride I can muster and I don't care if people like you don't understand why.

Pride matters because it's time to celebrate how far we've come, how we survive and thrive together, and to show support to those of us who still live in fear. Just because we're now well integrated into a handful of progressive societies doesn't mean we forgot the road that brought us here.

    That's nice....

Where I live, there are laws that forbid same sex marriages and books about LGBT are outlawed in public libraries... Some people dont believe me a lot of the time but... Its true lol. God forbid you try kissing someone of the same sex in public or hold hands... GG...

I'm not knocking this, I just don't understand how you can be proud of your preference...it's always baffled me.

I'm not proud that I like women or of the skin color I was born with, I'm proud of something that I achieved.

It's about not being ashamed of who you are even though others would shame you for it.

I personally feel that it does not have anything to do with "preference". I am not "Proud" because I like guys. I am Proud because I can be who I want to be, and show SUPPORT for others. We are not parading down streets to only show people that we are proud to be who we are.
We are parading down streets to show people that we are not afraid, that we have overcome the acts of oppression and will no longer be controlled by it in our day to day lives. I am me and I am proud.
