FG skill: Silver Bolts. Am I doing it wrong?

I was hoping to replace Hidden Dagger with Silver Bolts for the FG bonus weapon damage as the skills are comparable for me, but it seems like Silver Bolts just completely screws my other skills up. About 2 out of 3 times after using it I can't transition into a heavy attack (holding mouse button but character doing nothing) and trying to use another skill my keypresses are just ignored and I get stuck mashing the key two or three times to get the skill to fire.

Is this a problem with the crossbow animation or am I just doing something wrong?

    It's the animation, it has to follow through before you can do anything which locks you out from doing anything else. Best to keep it at a distance or as an opener, while you can spam the ability, it would be much faster if you were to use Arrow Spray (Bow) and spamming that instead.

    That kinda...blows. Nice skill and rendered inferior due to animations.

    Shame.

    Both skills have no casttime but they do have an animationtime like every skill and I think the Silver Bolt Animation is longer than the one of Hidden Dagger. The good news for you is that animations can be fully cancelled by Block, Bash, Roll-Dodge or Barswap. It also works with Skills that have a casttime on the tooltip but if you do it too early the skill won't go off.
    The easiest way is the Block Cancelling, just click (don't hold) your right mousebutton directly after you executed the skill. The animation is cancelled, the skill still goes off with full damage and you can do another Attack directly after it.

    It doesn't lock you out, just prevents you from taking actions that have the same or a lower priority. Higher priority Actions will cancel the Animation.
    The Priorities are currently like this:
    Light/Heavy Attacks < Skills < Bash < Block/Barswap/Roll-Dodge

    And here's where I say the combat system is broken... it shouldn't keep anything from being queued to fire after the animation is finished, and yet I'm left button mashing or overriding skill animations with block.

    Feature my arse. I'll stick to the quicker skill.

    Certain animations need to be block cancelled. Skills that have annoying animations that I know of;

    1. Arrow rain (or hail or watever its called) --> you need to block after casting or u get locked into the animation.
    2. FG skill trap --> Both morphs. If you dont block it takes FOREVAH to place this.
    3. buffs such as rally, igneous weapons, flappy wings etc etc.


    Just tap bash (if your on PC) and continue with your rotation. Its fine. On console tho... as far as I understand it, you guys dont have a keybind for bash.. So you will lose stam regen when u tap block....
