How do DCUO, FFXIV, Warframe, Smite and Paragon do it, then? Black magic? Voodoo?
UltimaJoe777 wrote: »
Why don't you ask them?
Peekachu99 wrote: »
What a strange, obtuse and smarmy question. Why would I ask them? Shouldn't publishers know how to get their patches signed and pushed through? It's not my job. Point is, same day multiplatform patches are the norm with games already on PS4.
UltimaJoe777 wrote: »
The publishers do know how. That isn't the issue. If you wish to know why those games can push their patches through faster than ESO's (assuming they do) then your business is with Microsoft and Sony, not Zenimax.

It's not my question to ask. ZoS should be figuring that out with Sony/MS. How does this keep sailing over your head? I'm the consumer. They are the provider. Logistics are not my business and not the topic of this post.
P.S. Oh, and there's no "assuming they do..." Patches for major console MMORPGs launch day and date with PC versions. Go check the dates for DCUO and FFXIV patch drops if you don't believe me. Every stuff like Dark Souls 3 (not an MMORPG) has synchronized patching.

Zenimax also doesn't have complete control over what goes through consoles. What you download on PC is your concern but what you download on consoles is Microsoft and Sony's concern and thus there are procedures that must be followed. If Microsoft and Sony were able to speed this up it would be done but until then there is nothing Zenimax can do.
Peekachu99 wrote: »
But Sony and MS are able to speed it up, and I've given you several examples of such that you continue to ignore. Why isn't ZoS making this a priority?
UltimaJoe777 wrote: »
Because as I've said in like every post so far it's out of their hands.
Believe me we all hate this dreadful lag but all we can do is wait.

So every other publisher under the sun is capable of patching their games, but ZoS is, by your own account, incapable, and that's okay? I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Anyway, this has gone far off course from the question I had asked. I'll take it that there's no plans for maintenance, urgency or concern happening and leave it at that.

I'll explain with roleplay then.
Zenimax: Ok we have the patch ready for consoles. Now to run it by Microsoft and Sony!
Microsoft and Sony: Ok we can have your patch validated in about one or two weeks.
Zenimax: Alright... We will put it through once you validate it.
*1 week later*
Community: WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG FOR OUR PATCH?!
Zenimax: Sorry still waiting on validation. Our hands are tied but we will have it through asap!

Only these are big businesses and that's not how they talk, how they negotiate around nonexistent enforcements, or anything else you just roleplayed. Day and date cross platform patches happen; from indies to EA and SE. It's not a miracle when they do. The end.
The absolute, apathetic lack of communication to the players/ customers is appalling. If there is a plan, let people know. There's some serious Stolkholm Syndrome going on if people think the opposite is normal or healthy for a business.
