Polished Shilling Obtainment Method Identified

So recently I made a thread about not getting Polished Shilling when robbing Guards. To avoid potential bounties I only robbed each Guard once and never got one. Well I just robbed 3 Guards until their pockets were empty and got the following result:

Guard 1: Treasure, Treasure, Polished Shilling
Guard 2: Treasure, Treasure, Empty
Guard 3: Treasure, Treasure, Polished Shilling

Coincidentially Guards 1 and 3 caught me the first attempt at their 3rd item, but only once each. Therefore I can safely conclude that every Guard's third item is the style material and if they don't have it they will say empty after the first 2 successes. Hope this info helps others the way it helps me!


...Ok I stand corrected. Just robbed a 4th Guard blind and got Polished Shilling from the 2nd attempt AND the 3rd. Curse you RNGeebus! But one thing is still ascertain: The rate of obtainment is indeed higher when you dig deep.

This is incorrect as I have gotten a Polished Shilling on a second attempt.
Random is random and your three attempts are not nearly large enough of a sample size to jump to any conclusions.

You are right. A couple of Guards afterward didn't give me Polished Shilling on any of the 3 attempts. Still the rate seems higher the more successful attempts you make on the same Guard. Plus before I made this thread I robbed a few dozen Guards once each and got no Polished Shilling.
