Why can't I look through guild rosters?

Trying to find someone to travel to in a specific zone. I'm trying to look through the guild roster and I can't get through all the online players, it automatically shoots me back up to the top of the list. This is infuriatingly stupid.

Sometimes I can't scroll all the way down lists when in combat (e.g. happens the most when trying to buy siege equipment).
