Defending & Sharpened

What do you think would be more ideal?

• I've got a maelstrom inferno staff with defending (Increases physical and spell resist by 5160) on my magicka sorc
• And a maelstrom inferno staff with sharpened (increases spell and physical penetration by 4-5k or whatever) on my magicka templar

I can't decide which would be more beneficial because I don't do maths and theorycrafting etc but my Templar lost a lot of spell resistance in the DB patch and if my sorc primary uses an absorb shield, then... wouldn't it be better giving him the sharpened? but then my Templar's damage may suffer, losing out on that penetration, I don't know...

You want DW on the Templar. I use one Sharpened and one Defending. Give the Sharpened staff to your Sorc.

Anybody know if 5k spell pen on a mag Templar is very significant?

I was using DW before DB but then I thought hmmmm, might give the staff a go, but yeah to be honest you're right, I'll do that. Thanks @WillhelmBlack

I have no idea about what traits are best for PvE though. Precise and Nirnhoned?

I was thinking about that too, hmmm.. I guess that would work well
