Matt is right on this one, the players don't quit after 6 month they just play weeks or couple month with high average gaming hours and then they have a break but come back after a while.

did you even read this forum this thread is fillied with people who play daily for hours and have bin since launch

You seriously think ESO players are playing 6-10 or more hours the day since 2 years without having breaks? Sorry but it's time for truth and a reality check. Stop being silly.

i play everyday 5-8 hours a day so..... unless i am physically not able to get on my xbox if i am not at work i am on eso

A little reminder that you do have breaks from ESO. Sorry guys but lying doesn't help this discussion.

The way I interpret it, I don't think he was saying there aren't hardcore players per se, rather that there aren't the type of hardcore players who throw themselves at the game for six months and then quit, instead they get a lot of players who play for a few weeks, stop for a while, then come back (for whom the DLC arrangements are ideal). That doesn't mean there aren't both hardcore and casual players who have stuck with the game solidly. I consider myself casual although I've been playing most days for over 2 years, I just don't put in hardcore hours or competitiveness. There are clearly lots of different types of both hardcore and casual players, Firor wasn't describing them all.

Voted casual bc i play most everyday and have ever since launch pre-order.

So, i did not play for six months then quit which is what the quote defined for that context as hardcore playstyle.

The only other alternative provided in the poll was undefined casual so in the binary world of the original pollster, i must be in that one.

I will note however, the quote did not establish the world as so binary. it mentioned two playstyles (one they dont see so much, one they see a lot of but no mention of everything else) without saying they were comprehensive. So an "other" option for the poll would have been closer to the quote IMO.

In addition to assessing your priorities, i would simply point out that for the purposes of his discussion the speaker explained and defined what he was referring to as a hardcore playstyle. That made it VERY clear what type of gamer he was talking about.

OBVIOUSLY you do not fit that definition since you did not quit after six months and so whatever he said about them doesn't apply to you.

The fact that you use a different definition of hARDCORE than he does should not be offensive to you, IMO, and it highlights the wisdom of doing exactly what he did - defining what you mean by a nebulous term when you use it in a broad ranging interview.

Whatever personal value you assigned to being "hardcore" aside, it should be obvious you and he were using the same term to describe different things not that you were being dissed.

LOL, this is fun 80% really think they are HC with this game? Seriously? 80% doesnt know what HC is, go play Black Desert Online and see how long you last, I heard its sick as the old Lineage 2.

For myself, I dont know Ive always liked HC games I loved Diablo 2 when I was kid, I played it on PVP and HC server, those were the good times when we had full loot, also MUDs with full loot and full pvp (Forgotten Realms, thes best ever), also I loved Darkfall full loot and full PVP game, I love deep games like Civilization. Im suppose Im quite HC, but I love other games too so I cant be dedicated to one game so thats my problem.

My point is that dont fool around with the HC if you dont know what its. Its obvious that most people here doesnt know what HC truly is, be careful what you wish for, so to speak.

Try getting emp in PC. It would break your sweat (unless you attempt it by less than honourable ways).

I hate the term casual because it's used wrongly.
In the same way, hardcore is very much used wrongly too.

Considering the amount of time i'm pouring in this game and the investment in the community, making videos, reading forums etc..Does that make me a hardcore Community player?

Or do you mean by hardcore "competitive"?

I'm NOT a competitive player. I do not have the skill, and I do not have the interest. I don't like competition. I like to to relax. I like to have fun. I like team work and challenge. But I hate competition. I don't want to fight others and try to beat them. I want to better myself, but that's between I, me and myself.

I don't think I would consider myself hardcore; although, I play whenever I can because I'm still trying to get to 501 CP. I think the true meaning of hardcore is those already at 501 and still grinding in the game. That's a lot of time and effort to get to 501. I would say I am more dedicated right now. Unless, there is more DLC released, I'm not sure what else is there once the 501 is reached.

Firor explained. "You don’t see a hardcore playstyle - like playing for six months and then quitting - we don’t see that. We have a lot of players who will play for two or three weeks because they want to get through a zone and then stop. Then they come back two months later for another month, because there’s no pressure to play all of it at once.

"Our DLC packs cater to that, because they’re smaller, bite-size chunks of story and associated quests."
after reading this i was thinking i play almost everyday for hours it made me think am i alone? have i bin forgot :/

There are two thing here that he said, one applies to this poll, the other is irrelevant to the poll.

Hardcore, in the context used above, appears to be someone who jumps into a game, does everything the game has to offer, then leaves. They don't usually come back because there is not enough new content to attract them. This is the person that this poll is about, and I suspect that there are no hardcore players on the forum that match this definition. Anyone who answered thinking that they are hard core probably is not using Firor's definition.

Then there are the tourists and vacationers. The people who pop in "for the weekend" and do new content before returning to whatever else they have to do, whether it is other games (plural), another game (singular), or just life outside of gaming. This poll has nothing to do with that.

Since the poll answers do not match the question, or the text used to explain the poll, I am at a loss to pick one.

With the exception of breaks from the game for holidays and other big game releases (Fallout 4) I played every day since launch for the first year and a half.

After that I find I take longer breaks or days like today where I can't bring myself to play any more because of the issues that plague it. I enjoy the gameplay, I enjoy the story but I want to play a game with my friends and experience things together, ESO doesn't offer than (too much solo focus) and what competitive content there was (PvP for me) has become so worthless I can't care any more.

Love everything this game was and could be, I love the setting and the gameplay, but I don't think it will ever be something I can be hardcore about any more.

Polls like this mean jack and ship.

With 7 million players you can't get any true sense of demographic with a handful of votes.

The biggest mistakes I have ever seen is when devs actually pay attention to straw poll votes like this. hat's pretty much how NGE in SWG came about.

Seems ZOS has confused people that can't tolerate the game for more than 2 months at a time due to broken combat and lag with people that simply lose interest. Fix ur game and people might not leave in consternation every two months. You think people are returning on these updates cause of the content? Heck no, they can eat through that in a few days not two months. They are returning on updates because they are hoping you fixed or balanced whatever made them leave.

I'm not really what I consider hard core but right now I'm in a groove and play daily...or I try too when my frustration levels are not too high as they are at the moment (I am on Xbox). I don't play all day as I occasionally did during Skyrim. None of that makes me hardcore though. As for those who stop and start, frankly, no one on this forum can possibly know the truth of Firor's statement. What's more, those on this forum proclaim their available time by posting but not everyone who plays has the time or inclination to visit a forum.

I play a bit at night when the family goes to sleep and get a few hours here and there on the weekend. My wife, children and gut all thank me for my casual gaming lifestyle. Good thing about ESO is, you don't have to be hardcore to be on top. Pvp is not my thing but I'm decent at it. I have well over CP cap, all Bis gear and maxed proffesions. RP takes up the bulk of my time these days. Anyone offended by Matt's comments should probably take a good long look at themselves in the mirror and grow up. This poll is going to be slanted because if someone is casual with playing the game, then they are probably even more casual with participating in the forums. I would expect most hardcore game players to also be hardcore in the forums. More so than the casuals.

Then of course we will get there is no communication!!!!!!! from the whine machine.

It's a game Zos can't win so it's best not to play. If Matt is smart he will let the statement stand, and move on to other things.
