Stam DK DPS

My main toon is a red guard DK. I have 251 CP right I originally rolled him to be a tank because of the passives. I am over the tank scene right now and would to get in PVP and do some damage. But I have no idea how to build him from the ground up. What armor should I look at crafting or obtaining? Where should I throw my CP for optimal single target DPS? 2h and bow? What skills? I tried to make my own, but yet I am still doing minimal dps and getting wrecked. Any pointers and tips are greatly appreciated.

It really seems to be a game of progressive escalation rather than a one-off path to success. You need to build starter sets, like crafted Hunding's Rage and Night Mother's Gaze, before you can get DPS high enough to earn our best end-game weapons, which would be the one-handed Maelstrom weapons.

For starters, you should wear Medium Armor as a Stamina build for PvP. Try 5 pieces Medium + 1 Light + 1 Heavy to make use of the Undaunted Passives. 5 Heavy instead of Medium could work too, but try to get the hang of PvP first then.

A good set to start out with would be Hunding's Rage: it's the general Stamina set out there. There are plenty of others, but you can't really go wrong with a good set of Hunding's on any Stamina build.

    Try something like:

    - 5 Hundings
    - 4 Night Mother Gaze
    - 3 Agility (3 Jewelry slots)

For weps, a solid choice for a DK is S&B + 2H. Sword and Board synergizes incredibly well with the DK and has some pretty neat skills too like a Reflect, Reverb Bash. Your 2h is necessary for Rally, always keep a 2H with you for your back bar and have Rally equipped on it. You could replace the S&B with a Bow if you need a bit of range

Skills wise? Crit Rush, wrecking blow and excutioner? And of the DK skills? Should I try using DOTS? I've noticed I have no moce ability on the field.... The only thing I have going is crit Rush and I keep getting CCd and running out of Stam trying to break free. Should I focus or weapon crit or weapon damage ?

Basic skill layouts for stam DKs these days:

    2h&Bow
Rally, Dizzying swing, Reverse Slice, Crit Rush, Noxious Breath or the other dot, Dawnbreaker of Smiting.
Poison Injection, Shuffle, Igneous Shield, Vigor, Volatile Armor or Dragon Fire Scales, Poison Armor Ulti (damn I'm so bad with the new names)

Stam DK s&b/2h (max damage output if you learn how to bash cancel, no idea if even possible on consoles though)
Heroic slash, Reverberating Bash, Invasion, Igneous Shield, Vigor, Dawnbreaker of Smiting
Rally, Shuffle, both poison dots, Volatile Armor or Scales, Poison Armor Ultimate

    Basic Builds involve:

    2x Bloodspawn, Malubeth or 1x Blood/Kena
    3x Agility or Endurance
5x Hundings, Marksman, Tavas, Eternal Hunt, Shieldbreaker, Willows Path, Viper, Skirmisher and whatever else good 5 piece set there is. Personal preference thing.
Maelstrom 2h and Bow if possible, Leki sword and shield (for weapon damage bonus)
You want Impenetrable on as many pieces as possible. Best trait by far atm.
You could also go with 2x 5 piece set if you replace your jewelry though I wouldn't recommend it till you learn about the class and your personal needs better.

imo if you run hundings make sure your 2h is hundings, if your running 2h and sword and board, 2h is clearly where your damage is, and shield is where your support is.
    easy-ish dps builds to make involve - 3 agility/5 Fury/5 hundings - 3 agility/5 hunding/5 oblivions edge - 3 agility
/5hundings/5nights silence (this is great starter set if you want to run a bow instead of shield
Kena 1 piece also is good for weapon damage or spawn mother 2 set

Aim for these stats (check in Cyrodiil)
    Stamina - 30k (at very least 26k)
    Stam recovery - 2k - ideally (over 1 k is fine)
weapon damage (over 3k unbuffed, over 3.5k buffed)
    weapon crit - over 40%

must have skills (try different combos):

    Igneous shields/vigor/ igneous weapons/spell reflect/dragon scales/immovable/trap beast/ hardened armour/snipe/poisen injection - Ult - ferocious leap

    rally/volatile/hardened armour/noxious breath/venom claw/executioner/uppercut/stampede/shuffle - Ult - Dawnbreaker

If you want more dps or even more damage per strike, you don't want dizzying swing, but rather wrecking blow. With a greatsword passive of an extra 5% damage and the wrecking blow's passive of empowered, that blow can get nasty. Yes, I've seen (damage per single strike) numbers pop up from 33-41k with just from the wrecking blow. Even playing around and striking a target from behind and from stealth, I've seen numbers pop up in the higher 70k. I've since swapped the 3-piece Agility for a 5-piece Spriggan.. much better.

Also, if you're using 2H/bow or even DW/bow, you want Flawless Dawnbreaker on your front bar, and if you're not using Toxic Barrage on your back bow bar, you're greatly missing out on damages. You also want to plus up your Mighty to, at least, 20%. I have maxed 25%.
