NPC reactions to race

Just wondering if people can remember specific quests or instances where the NPC has taken note of your chosen race, whether good or bad?

Just did a quest in Stormhold on my new Argonian, investigating murders. And 2 of the victims outright vilified me for being a lizard. And I loved it.
And I can't remember any other particulars like this.

I played an Altmer and Khajiit in AD, and can't remember any interactions there.

One of my biggest irks in this game is there isn't enough recognition of race. The amount of times I've asked like "what's an Argonian?" as an Argonian, and gotten a serious response is stupid (over-exaggerated example but you get the point) and reminds me of the only other notice. Same Argonian, early on. Like on of the first conversations outside of tutorial you can ask like "what do you know of the argonians?" and got the response "that's a bit of a funny question coming from you. Surely you'd know" etc

one of the quests of the alikir mentions your race if you are a redguard and it explains it is ok to kill the dead as you are an outsider

I heard in Wrothgar one of the quests turns out quite different if you're an Orc

In the new delve with the wisp mother boss, after doing the quest in the drive, the npc comments on why they don't destroy you as well if you are a vampire.

I miss the race specific insults thrown at you by enemy npc's in battle. That was an excellent touch in TES games.

Kinda sucks when some clown starts running his mouth to you about woodelves, and you are a woodelf. Never acknowledging your race. You should be able to kill those people without incurring a bounty.

There is only one that comes to my mind right now. In Stonefall, when you reach that dunmer village that got destroyed by a volcano. When you apply the medicine crafted by the argonian, if you are an argonian yourself, they will only thank you and get going, but if you are any other race, I know the women reply with "An argonian savage made this?" (what makes me want to punch them after). I forgot the males line.

I mostly play argonian so it took me a while to notice. I had to make one khajiit to find about it.

I just did a quest in Malabal Tor where a Nord had lost his shield to some Ra Gada. As I was a Redguard I expected him to be quite hostile to me when I went to return it, but instead he reacted to me the exact same way as he did to my Altmer and told me I didn't look much like a Ra Gada so he'd let me off the hook. I was a little disappointed he trusted me on the matter so easily.

Also, I'll never forget Shalidor talking about Yokudan ruins to my Redguard and saying something like "Yokudans, or as you know them, Redguards..." in his speech. Thanks Shally, really needed that clarification AS A REDGUARD :/.

But as was said before in the Alik'r a lot of NPCs do take note of your race if you're a Redguard which is great! Made up a little for no-one being able to recognise my character's vampirism in Rivenspire, some of those dialogues made no sense.

As for my Altmer I actually don't remember anyone taking note of it. I don't remember anyone even questioning me in Shadowfen, where you'd think being an Altmer would get some nasty remarks considering the events in that zone.

I remember doing a quest in Deshaan with a story line about Khajiit Pirates and Thieves. I walk up to him and he starts with "These dirty Khajiits.." This one was very offended, but i helped him because he had coin.

But I do miss Skyrim's "You'd make a nice rug, cat!" Ah, good ol' inferior race insults. Now I just get them from the lovely people of ESO for not being an optimal race for tanking!!

Yeh that's what spurred this topic. I absolutely hate these moments. And they seem to happen every few quests. I use Argonians and Khajiit a lot, so I get a hell of a lot of abuse said to me about those 2 races, without ever aknowledging the fact that it's me they're slagging off

    This can be arranged lol

I don't know about the racial thing, but I spend the majority of my time on one of my Hlaalu toons. The other day I was on my Indoril toon and I swear the NPCs in Mournhold were saying things about the Indoril family that I haven't heard them say in 2+ years on my Hlaalu.

...maybe I am losing my mind. :#

Personally I would -love- more racism in the game, as in, NPC dialouge and even quest progressions taking note of your race... at least through the mainstory (with cadwells, things are a bit more iffy since there is that bit of fluff stating you'd be in some sort of magical disguise that not even your friends would see through or something, so I can let all of those instances slide... though I kinda wish I would walk through cadwells in a permanent disguise to explain why the "enemy alliance" people don't attack me... ;) )

But definitely more NPCs reacting different towards you depending on race. Yes, there is a little... orcs in wrothgar occasionally get a bit of extra dialouge, and one alternate quest option... but I'd want way more then that. I want my bosmer and khajiit to suffer haughty insults from stuck up altmer, and be asked to leave "high elf only" taverns. I want my Dunmer to be treated with suspicion in argonian lands, and my argonian to be treated with contempt in dunmer lands. I want my orsimer to be overhearing whispered comments about her smell in breton lands, and I want my imperial to be blamed for the current mess everywhere she goes. And don't even get me started on how everyone ignores my vampire girls vampirism...

There's several orc specific comments in Wrothgar, you can even answer "I'm an orc and I never heard of this" when speaking to another orc about orc stuff.

I don't know if it's because I'm an orc but I was able to become chief of the Shatul Clan which I thought was pretty cool even if it's meaningless.

ah yes my favorite NPC, the clothier in Mournhold.

WUT?! 'AVINT YEW EVA SEEN A WUD ELF BEFOW

I imagine every Bosmer is just like "... no."

    ---

On Bleakrock if you ask Captain Rana about Argonians when you're Argonian, she gives you the aforementioned "um, shouldn't you already know this?" bit, but also she'll explain the part about being enslaved and add something like "... By the way, sorry."

In Auridon, the mages' school quest: Altmer -> "We're not accepting new teachers"; Khajiit/Bosmer -> "We're not accepting new students", anyone else -> "*** off outsider lol"

Hircine acknowledges that you have lycanthropy during that one quest in (I think) Bangkorai. Which makes sense, all things considered.

It would be nice if someone at ZoS could run back all the quests and add race check to add/remove/change comments.

If you're a Khajiit doing the Thalmor College Quest, the fake headmaster mentions something along the lines of how there's no more room or need for another Cat. Then you tell him you're there under the Queen and he perks up like a child hoping to get out of trouble.
