How could you name your character with all capital letters?

Just noticed some players who named their character with all letters in capital. I tried to name my hero with adjacent capital letters such as "CPT" but it was always shown as "Cpt" (while some players can get their names in all capital letters).

Can someone enlighten me on this?

According to my screen the Nameplate and preferred display name is in first letter capital rest lowercase and using spaces lets you have more than 1 capital as per proper grammar in a name. The name not displayed primarily/via nameplate is in all caps like titles are regardless of how it was actually put in.

This is only possible with a forced name change. Zenimax do not usually do this on request and only usually do it if your character has an inappropriate name that gets reported.

For some reason the name-change before you login to a character allows any combination of capital letters but adheres to the default special character restrictions.

Get a name change and you can use multiple capital letters in your name.

Thanks. Actually I noticed the names with capital letters via the guild list (so it has nothing to do with name plate display) and I am pretty sure they are with capital letters if shown from the guild. Tried to create a toon with similar template but never succeed...

Yeah one of my friends for a long time was named Aoe Barbecue and through a name change he was able to make it AoE Barbecue to satisfy the OCD in all of us.

It is probably as the others have said then because no one in my guild has a character name displayed at the moment in caps beyond first letter of the word.

Purely out of curiosity, why would you want a name with all capital letters? Is the name some kind of acronym or something?

Please for the love of all that is good let me turn off my @ name in the game UI.

I am being swarmed by Zelda fans and it is not funny, I have been using this name since before Ocarina of Time, also see my forum signature, and whilst I can cope with having to explain it on various discussion forums, I am now sick of having 2 weeks where everyone can see my account name and go "huehuehue" and send me a Zelda related pst. It's gone beyond funny into massively annoying

nah I don't want to make a name with all capital letters and mess with others. I was only asking to make a name with two adjacent capital letters, e.g. "DC warrior" but it always came back as "Dc Warrior". Simple feature but sadly it is not doable without ZOS's "help".

Early on, I really wanted to name one of my Breton characters "Sosia LaRouche" - this name fits into lore without any problems that I can see, but character creation switched the surname to Larouche with a lower case R, which I have never been happy about.

Thing is that early on in TES, a lot of Bretons had very English sounding surnames. From Morrowind onwards they had quite a variety of names that throughout the span of those games, were sounding more Gallic.

My current Breton characters are poor "Sosia Larouche" who has had her surname butchered by character creation, Sylvie Rielle, Celestine Rielle, and Marielle Dupont (which I might have preferred to have displayed as DuPont, but by the time I created that character I knew it wasn't possible).

Next time I create a Breton it really needs to be a Reachman character in which case a name something along the lines of "Vela Brearche" would be more appropriate. But will seem out of place unless we get a Reach/Nature magic skill line for that character!
