Potential new burst combo for PvP Sorcerers in Dark Brotherhood ?

Hello guys Izaki here, and I'm asking all you PvP Magicka Sorcs out there to give me some feedback. I was looking over the new Imperial City Tel Var Box sets and there is one that really caught my attention. Galerion's Revenge. So the bonuses of the set are as follows :
- (2 items) Adds 688 Spell Critical
- (3 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
- (4 items) Add 129 Spell Damage
- (5 items) When you hit an enemy with a Light or Heavy Attack you put a Mark of Revenge on them for 15 seconds, after stacking 6 marks on a target they will detonate for 7561 Magic Damage

I'm thinking this could be our new Inevitable Detonation right here ! In PvP you light attack weave with Crushing Shock/Forse Pulse anyway so if you could time this explosion with Velocious Curse it could give us back our trademark burst. So you'd first light weave like 4 times with Crushing Shock to proc C-Frags, weave again, entropy and C-Frags. As long as you know how to count you there's no reason for you not to be able to time this thing. It sure isn't as easy as the Det + Curse burst combo but to me it seems really decent and would need some testing. (I'm on xbox so I didn't have acces to the PTS)

Because its a Tel Var Box Set I would assume it comes with Jewelry as well meaning you could have two 5 piece sets and a Maelstrom Staff/Torug's Pact Swords/Molag Kena Piece. Assuming you are willing to drop those precious Willpower necklaces and rings. I'm already thinking about hanging up my Willpower Set to get a double 5 piece on my sorc.

So check this out :
- 5 Piece Kagrenac's Hope
- 5 Piece Galerions Revenge
- 1 Piece Molag Kena
3 Infused, 4 Divines, Sharpened Lightning Staff with Spell/Weapon Damage Enchantment, Defending Restoration Staff

This should give us the following stats :
- 3.544 buffed Spell Damage
- 35,069 Max Magicka
- 1997 Magicka Recovery

These are pretty decent stats apart from the lowish max magicka, but you could always put in a nirnhoned staff instead and grab a different item set than Kagrenac's Hope. Most importantly you get another bomb without even slotting it.

I'd like to know what you guys think of this ! My biggest concern is placing those 6 marks on the opponent might take a bit too long...

Would be pretty cool though

PS : Please don't come just to say that a sorc would be dead before even starting to proc the set. Sorcs are just as tanky as they used to be before DB, if not more.

I think the damage is too low, remember it will hit for half the tooltip value in pvp. Also too much a burden to land that many attacks in a short window. Not going to work at all really vs multiple opponents. Something like this seems more suited for fighting pve bosses like how nerienth's monster set is more for that than pvp.

that set proc can probably be purged, so is useless, even more now than 90% of the players on cyrodril are templars lol, can't walk 3 meters withouth having a purge synergy popping in your screen.

Well you do get like 15 seconds to get 6 marks on there... As long as you count you attacks from the start of the fight it could work pretty well.. But probably in 1v1s more than in 1vX... Well you know Vicious Death wasn't Battle Spirit'ed so maybe this one isn't either..!

Yeah I don't know it is an IC set after all, it was probably designed for PvP more than for PvE right?.. So maybe the detonation is inevitable from this set too.. I don't know, I couldn't test it could so yeah... Yeah templars everywhere

* Six marks is too many, a PVP sorc is dead by then. You'll get two marks on your average Nightblade before he finishes you off spamming fear/ambush when your shields fall off.

* DK's will reflect your light attacks, you'll end up with all of the "lol marks".

* The damage is too low, 3K in PVP before mitigation? I can do that with a force pulse and at least have a chance to freeze or snare my opponent.

Please don't think I'm trying to be a jerk. I like the thinking and theory crafting, but this whole set is a dud for PVP. You'll do ten times better with Skoria set and random 6% procs from the meteor. A little better than 1 in 20 attacks drops one, and it's always a pleasant surprise.

Are you sure that this set get's "battle leveled" in PvP?

Some of the newer "random pledges" sets have not their bonuses cut in half, as far as I know. (because they noticed, that the damage is minimal)

Yeah I was thinking that too and agree with pretty much everything you said... I just really wanted to make this thing work to get my magicka detonation back

@Minalan BTW do you actually use Scoria on your sorc ?! They don't have a single DoT though..! Appart from Ice Comet and Soul Assault if it procs on channels too. I've never took the time to level my stam DK to 50 so I have no idea how Skoria works

And Scoria can proc on the Meteor DoT right? Would be pretty cool seeing someone take the Ice Comet and the Scoria Meteor to the face lol

Resto heavy and lightning form are the DOT attacks of choice for PVP. I think velocitious curse used to be considered a DOT, but isn't anymore.

To be honest I haven't run the set since I bought the helm from the PVP vendor two weeks ago. It was useful, but the set is probably ten times more useful for a Stam sorc with hurricane than it was for a Magicka sorc. The latter have to stay out of range, a Stam is in your face constantly with hurricane.

Okay, I don't quite see myself using Liquid Lighting, Wall Of Elements or Pets in PvP though..!

Oh yeah, it would be pretty sick with Hurricane, Poison Injection and the Critical Rush DoT from Maelstrom Weapons ! BTW, I'm really loving the stam sorc playstyle, so much speed and thanks to Dawnbreaker there's a real good burst too !
