I've decided to make a Redguard Stamina Nightblade. I mainly care about PvP but I also enjoy some PvE aspects here and there.

- What are some things I should definitely do while leveling? Pick up every skyshard in each zone? Join Thieves/Fighter guilds? Should I be getting a vampire bite or go werewolf before level 50?

- The game seems to have introduced a lot of content and I really don't want to get overwhelmed by things which may slow down my leveling. Are there any frustrating features that I should totally skip? Like slow dungeons or buggy areas?

- Do quest choices matter for alignment or anything like the single player TES games? Do quest choices matter at all for that matter?

- I was planning on playing the game as it was mean to be played by trying to do every quest I see. Will I level extremely slow if I do this method? It seems like the majority of players just grind mobs all the way to level 50 without bothering with any quests. Does this gimp your character at all since you'll miss out on quest rewards and skills?

- Also should I be leveling all of my skills up? All the different armor types and weapon types? Can you eventually max out everything on your character or should I choose to specialize in certain things?

I want to streamline the leveling process (I remember the game being very grindy) so I don't have to spend time looking things up while leveling so if anyone can think of anything I should be doing while I level please post here.

Thanks

(Also, I assume build doesn't matter at all while leveling for the most part? I'll be able to respec once I hit 50?)

    1. Wear at least one of each type of armor while leveling, so you can get all those to 50. You never know what balance changes will come later. Yes, you should grab the skyshards.
    2. Questing is a perfectly fine way to level, it is slower than out and out grinding, but I think it is more fun. And, it is not really all that slow. The latest update broke some quests, but the last patch fixed most of those issues, at least on PC. Note on the ones that are broken, when the game tells you to press a button to activate something and its not working, just open your inventory, go to Quest Items and activate the item manually
    3. Quest Choices do not have a big impact, other than some dialogs you will hear as you go through the game.
    4. Concentrate on your main weapons first, but once you get those to 50, then start leveling other weapons that you might want to use later. Get these alternates to L38 so you can at least unlock the last skill, which is usually the one you really want.

The game is no where near as grindy. Even without ESO Plus, you will outlevel the zones before you complete them. Once to Champ Ranks, the old Vet Ranks, you can earn Champ Points that you can use on all of your characters. Once you get one character to CP160, then any character that reaches level 50 is CP160 also, neat.

Awesome thank you. I will be purchasing ESO Plus by the way so I guess that will make things faster.

    - Once I out level a zone should I just skip everything else in the zone and run straight to the next one? Will this mess up my questlines? Like in some MMO's if you just run straight to the next zone you might miss a breadcrumb quest and screw up the questlines from then on. I don't want this happening, can be very frustrating...

    - Can you fully max out your character? Like should I not level up "Destruction Staff" if I don't think I'll ever want to use it? I don't want to find myself regretting leveling something up because it prevented me from leveling something else up. Or can you totally max out every skill to 50 without having to worry about any caps

    - Lastly, do you know of any NB Leveling builds/guides? Since there was a very recent patch I assume almost everything is outdated...

    Thanks

Oh, I'm going to be buying the Explorers Pack that lets you create and race/faction combo. I've heard that this is buggy and I should buy it on an alt so that the maps don't take up a bunch of slots in my inventory. Is that still an issue?

No. Do all the zone quests first.

Yes, you can max out your character in that way.

    Depends. Stamina or Magicka?
Leveling is pretty easy in general so don't worry if a guide/build is outdated a little.

Which one? The maps take up four slots in your inventory unless you open them.
I've yet to experience any issues with it, though.

Do all the zone quests first? So even though I outlevel every zone I should 100% each map before going to the next? Oh jeez

The most important quests in zones are the main ones. (Not the MAIN quest, but the quests important to the story of the zone). These grant skill points, which are important for leveling.
    PC NA AD
Gamma Fyr: Dunmer Sorcerer Stamina DPS (the Missing Sister...props to those who get the reference)
Samekh Fyr: Dunmer Nightblade Magicka DPS
Claire Le'Rouge: Breton Templar Heal/Tank (the Resplendent Bastion)
Augustus Constantine: Imperial Nightblade PvP (Blackwater Bandit)
    Shadow-of-Sundered-Star: Altmer Dragonknight Lowbie

Thing to remember, you can't outlevel a quest, so you still get full quest exp. It is just the mobs that will stop giving exp once your 5 levels over during the leveling. You won't be more 5 levels over unless you complete the zones doing everything. It also helps to slow the leveling down so you don't get too over leveled doing content, so unless you do a lot of grinding in say public dungeons, the overleveling is not a huge issue.

Overleveling is a little different in the Champ System, as you always get at least some mob credit, and this is only an issue in 3 of the zones. In the last two zones of Silver and all of Gold, and of course the DLC's, you get full credit for mob kills.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

How do you know what the main zone quests are? There doesn't seem to be any indicator on a main zone quest.

With the new training trait make a set of gear all training, just leveled an Argonian NB from 1-50 in a few days, wore a LVL 20 armor set and upgraded staff every 10 lvls or so, all purple... now finished leveling with 8 in horse training.. many skills still need to be leveled too... always wanted a sap tank to play around with..

They are generally fairly obvious if you areally paying attention to the story context of the zone. They are also a chain that you can follow.

There is also a list of quests that grant skill points somewhere that you can google. The story quests will be included there.
