How To Farm: Abah's Watch Motif and Pages!

Here is a little guied on how I farmed the Abah's Watch Motif and it's pages in the new update! It's a little slow... well really slow... like less than 2% chance to drop slow, but the motif still looks pretty cool, just be ready for a very very very long haul.

That's what I was saying to do, but you do make money while farming the pages so in essence you can sell stuff, make gold, and buy pages while getting them too. Doesn't hurt that most of the pages can sell for like 40k

Not sure if this will help or if you already know, one of the CP passives gives a chance to get better stuff from chests. Might help maybe?

Don't you think that there some dependance on type of quest and motif's chapter?
Yesterday i've tried to farm some with my 23 lvl char and took only these "delivery" quests (by the way they all was to Wayrest). After 20+ iterations i have 3 chapters - all belts.

I don't believe you can get the pages onlyThe Covetous Countess. I've gotten at least three pages from the pickpocketing quests, but again, the drop rate is really low.

There shouldn't be really any dependency as the pages drop from the large shipments and not from the quests themselves. I did get a couple of pages from them and they were all different, so it's just all RNG atm

You can get pages from all of the quests, I just find that doing the clean delivery quests is the fastest, safest, and open to all levels. Do what you want, but with a low drop rate it does help doing the quickest farm!

I'm a little wary of doing the delivery quests, because I have a few looted items that I always like to keep with me (just little trinkets), and I'm afraid they'll disappear when I deliver my "laundered" items.

They always use the lowest costing items first for the clean items quest, but you can store the items in the bank so that they're separated from you and not used in the quest itself!

Oh, I didn't know that's how it worked! But I have maybe 50 such laundered items in my inventory that I always keep on me for RP and related events It's just easier for me to do the pickpocketing and safebox-breaking quests

In the video you keep picking up the quest and abandoning them, instead just click once on the board and if the it doesn't start with ""Esteemed thieves" then just back out and click again.
You don't have to actually pick up the quest to make the board switch, that itself would save u a lot of time instead of going into inventory to abandon quest so much.
I just go on a stealing spree, sell all but the greens that are not needed for this and i go to the board to pick up, fast travel to the location from inside the den and there's always a wayshrine close to the target so u can get back without paying then.
You'll get either of these requests to collect:

Games, Dolls, and Statues
Ritual Objects and Oddities
Writings (inc. Scrivener Supplies) and Maps
Cosmetics, Linens, and Wardrobe Accessories
Drinkware, Utensils, and Dishes

Also the items from the reward boxes counts toward the objective of the quest so don't sell them before u can't be bothered anymore that day.

The drop rate is much higher than 2%. I'd put it closer to 25%. However, you have to realize there is a cooldown on the motif before this becomes apparent. I'm trying to nail down the exact way it works, but my best guess is that there is a 24 hour cooldown between potential motif pages. If you're off cooldown, the 25% drop chance kicks in. These numbers may not be exact but it's been holding true for me for the past week on all 12 toons daily.

Imo there's no way the rate is 25%, maybe i've had really bad RNG but i'm guessing you've had very good RNG.

Using the method I describe above, I get exactly one motif on each of my toons each day. It's possible that the drop rate is also tied to your thieves guild level. I've got most of my toons at 12/12 for that so it may be a factor.

I'm max on all guild lines so can't be that imo, but lvl seems to affect the drops at times thou i've seen low lvl players getting a lot of motifs that i have a harder time trying to get from boss drops for example when i'm getting others, but not sure if that's my imagination or a factor here even if lvl affects it.

And i think if there's a timer it's not much more than an hour. in about 40 attempts i got 2 chapters and they where about 1 and 1/2 hrs apart approximately i think.

Right after i got the second to last motif i went to do other dalies and came back later.
Will wait 24 hrs to see if the drop rate improves thou.

Seems redspecter23 is completely right!

I've done his method some days now and seems reliable, had one day where i had to do 5-6 but otherwise i mostly got 1 on 3-4 attempts believe.

I find the safebox ones are the fastest and easiest for me.
Gonna have to give this one a go and see how fast it is.

I need 9 of these still so gonna buckle down and try to farm them this week

This is an extremely helpful hint^
I've also been told there's an addon that will auto-abandon until it gets the correct quest, though I haven't tried it. lol.

Any updates with farming this motif?

One Saturday I decided to buckle down and spam the Covetous Countess quest until I got the pages I'm missing. Did the run 20 times on a low-level character with a low TG rank and never saw a single page. Thought maybe a higher-ranked / higher-level toon would have better luck, but at 12/12 and CP, she did 20 runs and never got a page. Then I gave up for the day.

Do any of you know if the number of motif pages already known affects the drop rate, like it does with some aspects of Dark Brotherhood drops? (Tainted Blood, eg) I'd like to know if that will make a difference before I drag my crafter through the TG quests and try with her.

With some ppl reporting a ~25% drop rate and some saying ~2%, it seems like there has to be a factor that affects the percentage.
