New weapon ideas here.

For me I would like to see a skill line/progression for one handed weapons only.
But I'd also like to be able to equip a variety of spells in my hands.
So i can throw lightning, fire etc from my bare hands (skyrim style)

How about you, what weapons would you like to see in ESO?

Basically... this. I'd love to have a single weapon/fencing skill line as well as "true" Elder Scrolls spells.Polearms/spears would be a nice addition as well.

Flails, throwing weapons, Polearm with Shield just for another option for tanks, an actual crossbow perhaps, last but not least whips because its a fantasy game why not?

Reason I said polearm with shield realistically would you think its practical to duelwield polearms? I know its a fantasy game but we can't duelwield 2 handed weapons.

TBH I would kill for Polearm with Shield in this game it might be super slow but if it does more damage per hit compared to One Handed weapon with Shield im game.

What I'm waiting for since launch is a kind of scepter (maybe shield/scepter).
Sword/Shield is nice for blocking but everything else is for a pure magicka user more or less useless.

My idea is to have some skills in scepter/shield which are more defence/buffing/debuffing, so that there would be a clear difference between destro staffs and healing staffs and of course "onhand"/shield - which is 100% stamina.
Moreover we would have a chance to get magicka back with heavy attacks.
Light and heavy attacks with scepter/shield could be a short range magicka attack (maybe 10-15 meters).

Long ranged melee would (pole arms) be nice along with crossbows would be nice, with more skills over all for all lines. Also mounted combat would be nice such as in skyrim.
But what are the actually chance of it happening?????????????

Personally that is one I would not exactly think makes much sense, since all "one-handed duelling" styles were never really intended for battlefield use but honor duels where there are that thing called "rules", and even the best duellists were likely to do -something- with their offhand in a real fight. be it grab a main-gauche for dual wield, or wrap their cloak around their offhand to use as improvised shield... not to mention all those fighting styles who had a ranged option wioth their offhand, be it a throwing knife or a flintlock pistol... (you can see where those considerations contributed to my above mentioned concepts, yes? ;) )

Chances? Maybe not the best... even though I for one would -gladly- pay extra if they gave me all my "wishlist" in an DLC...
Still, as a certain pilot once said: "never tell me the odds"... we are here on the forums to convey our wishes and imaginations, the powers that be in ZOS will decide if they ever pick up an idea from here and make something of it.

That said, it -would- make sense for them to add -something- of the sort, to breathe new interest into the game for those who have already reached the "seenitall" point, and to keep the new ones from getting there all too soon... and new weapon skill lines that everyone could pick up and work on mastering would -just- be the ticket, since a great many players would just -have- to see how they could make a super-effective combo with those new skills, right?

First off it's not the first time I have mentioned it either and you are definitely not the first to mention it so save the condescending for your spouse

Second, do you know nothing about TES? It's a game and one handed has always been a viable weapon skill choice, and it would completely make sense to have a skill line for it in ESO.

And third, if you knew anything about real world battles (which it seems you don't)
You will find that one handed weapon combat is actually a very real thing.
Example WW1 in which soldiers where using one handed trench digging tools to beat enemies to death.
Or even the recent Afghanistan cave raids where they used just brass knuckles with a blade attached.

Been asking for polearms and crossbows since beta. Zenimax even said during a private interview with some guilds back at pc launch that it was something they were looking into.

Still nothing yet, probably never will have any more weapon skill lines, and if we by some miracle do get a new weapon line they'll charge you 5000 crowns for it.

Y'know this could easily be resolved with a new motif style: Torches.

The motif would add weapons only, with a standard 1h torch as a 1h mace option, bladed torches for 1h axe and sword options, and larger versions for 2h options. Maybe even a pocket torch for dagger =P

Hand to hand skill line. And while I'm at it, why the heck can't I have 2 skill bars without arming weapons? WHY?!?

I had created this awesome orc that was a boxing DK. It was working great! Then he hit level 15 and I realized he wasn't going to ever get a second bar. That's stupid. 2 bars at level 15. Weapon or not. Makes no sense!

I just wish there was more variety in the way of one/two/three piece sets that are challenging to farm but would decrease reliance on 5 piece bonuses. I've never experienced such a reliance on 5 piece bonuses in an MMO

With that said, I'd like to see a weapon that can occasionally attack twice on a standard swing a la Joyeuse or Ridill for those of you who played FFXI

This would be fun to do but only in dueling. They could put it in at the same time if they add in dueling, have an option for no weapons or skills in addition to the normal dueling.

My point is, "one handed" in medieval times generally meant "caught unprepared for the fight at hand". No matter if it was the noble drawing their broadsword to fend off an surprise assailant, or the archer forced to get their backup shortsword when someone got too close for their bow...

We have one handed weapons in ESO. Swords, maces, axes daggers... but like mentioned, back in the day they would always do -something- with their offhand. Be it shield, or second weapon... even riders in cultures that did not train the horses to respond to knee commands and thus needed to hold the rains generally also had a shield when expecting battle... (until the weapons tech moved past lances and arrows to a point where shields just didn't cut it anymore)

And if you want to provide valid examples, then plase go for medieval tech level, not for warriors for whom the trench spade or combat knife is a backup to their two-handed rifle, mm'kay? ;)
Though there is a medieval equivalent - as mentioned, archers usually had a short sword or long knife as backup for their bow. But it was a -backup- only, and not their main weapon. Just like an knight had lance and shield as main weapons, yet might find themselves loosing those and then be forced to fight with only a sword or mace... it still would be the "backup" and not the "fully geared up" state. And there were always troops without full gear, where levied peasants had to fight with whatever they gould get their hands on. But again, it falls under "insufficient preperation"...

Even duels in medieval times were generally fought with shields, the "duelling styles" only came later, when swords in wartime became more or a backup themselves with the intrudiction of muskets... or in some cultures, the duelling unarmored with single swords were considered a contest of honor/machismo even in those times, but the very same cultures generally donned armor and picked up shields when going to actual battle. (well, unless they had some wierd notion about how fighting naked would draw the gods favor, and those kind of people usually lost to the roman empire when finding out that imaginary favors do not protect against sharp steel)

Also, if you were to pay a bit of attention to my concept, you would notice that I actually in a roundabout way had some "one-handed" options... "one-handed and ranged" and "one-handed and magic", if those were implemented, someone wanting to go with a "duellist" feel could go for one of them, slot the smallest and least noticable offhand option, and just never use the offhand skills... yet still use the slot for trait and set purposes.

And personally I would have preferred it if the weapon skill setup had been done a bit different. Like... one skill line per weapon type and allowing people to mix and match the skills depending on their equipment... and with "weapon type" I mean stuff like "unarmed combat", "mainhand melee weapon", "two-handed melee weapon", "two-handed polearm", "offhand shield", "offhend melee weapon", "offhand ranged weapon", "two-handed ranged weapon", "offhand destruction magic", "two-handed destruction magic", "two-handed restoration magic"...
Sadly, that is not how they did things in ESO, and they are not bloody likely to change their whole system at this point.

The world of Elder Scrolls (or any other video game really ) =/= Our own world, so why should we have to equate it point for point in order to justify the addition of a weapon line?
