tips for fixing framerate drop and intup lag on xbox?

Hey guys,
I've been doing vmsa trying to get on the leaderboards, but I've always noticed that on stage 9 (as well as random other places throughout vmsa and the entire game...) the inputs i do can be like 1 whole second behind...it messes so badly with my l-cancelling, and has ruined a few almost flawless runs. I have footsteps pets and music turned off, use a wired connection, have good internet...
Would using a wired controller help?? is there any other tips that will help with this sort of thing? when i respawn at the wayshrine at the arena, everything is smooth as butter. I watch pc people play on youtube and am so envious of how smoothly it runs.
My only idea is that vmsa is in wrothgar, and I have eso plus- meaning that wrothgar isn't technically installed on my system. I wonder if that could be it?
It's frustrating when trying to do hard content. I don't ever notice this problem in daily undaunted dungeons unless playing with someone whose connection sucks.
Anyways, if you have any input, I'd be very grateful!

✭✭✭✭✭-Don't use HDMI pass through in a receiver. Go directly from console to TV
-Do a hard reset and always quit the game after logging out (quit the game app)
-start from a cold boot and do your run
-run off a ssd external HD
Delete most of your DVR clips and screenshots
