✭✭✭Voice chat is better in a group dungeon or PvP but text chat is better for...well, everything else! RP, solo dungeons, farming, trading, grinding, LFG etc.
Just my opinion though

I have no desire to spend five minutes before every dungeon boss to explain mechanics to a Pug only for them to not fully understand my shorthand explaination. My concern (and it is a concern not a complaint as I dont have evidence) is that less and less people will use VC if TC is available. You can get so much more if you actually talk to people and as previously mentioned typing will be a massive *** ache.0 -

✭OP. I actually started up a forum about that as well a week or so ago. There's no ETA, but the expectation is some time this year. I wouldn't expect any formal announcement from ZOS about it. They already dropped the ball on something we thought we would get in TG. It's late now.

✭✭✭✭✭My biggest suggestion for those who are waiting for this is to spend more time discussing what you do want it to provide, what you don't want and how it use and functionality work with and without any types of controllers or keyboards.

You could look at it that way. But from my experience on PC, text chat will help with buying and selling, group finding, callouts for world events (dolmens and bosses) especially if it's a zone based chat instead of the area voice2 -

No one will force you to use it but you might find its easier for a lot of things. There have been other console MMOs with text chat windows and they worked out fine. One can be found at goodwill for 1.99. Just tap it out upside down and wipe the boogers off it with disinfectant Xbox One NA Aldmeri Dominion0 -

Eocosa✭✭✭I would also desperately like to see this implemented on console as soon as possible as it will help with sooooo much on consoles (selling/trading, forming groups, RP, casual questions, advice, etc) instead of the auditory assault of te major cities or the dead silence of everywhere else we are left with.
Even in pvp text chat will help to coordinate the masses.
Admittedly VC will still be ideal for high end content and extremely coordinated pvp, but that option is already there and it's past time everyone else got their communication medium implemented as it should have been there since launch in my humble opinion.0 -
