Hey guys need some advice. I have been using my Kinect for a mic and...let's just say my folks are getting upset with me talking loudly at 2 in the morning.
Can someone recommend a good headset to me? One that I can hear the game and talk into a mic? I have a Turtle Beach PX4, but it requires a special adapter to chat, which I do not have.
Honestly, just go for a cheap one similar to the default console headset. I've been using the same headset for my PS4 ever since it was released, but it's your call.

I have A 'Tritton' I think it's great value for money compared to some headsets, they have a range so you can choose on quality and wireless ect. I payed about £40 for mine and it comes with the headset adapter.
I know! I feel bad for them I was thinking either the Astros A50 or the TB Stealth 500x. (Money isn't too much of an issue...I buy stuff like this off Craigslist). But I have a wedding to photograph in a month so the bride/groom will be paying lol.
Overall been a really good headset with good sound. I did have to return for a new one because of a mic jack, but this was the only issue I had with the hardware.
The only issue I have with these headphones are a slight very faint mic feedback when I am speaking.
Pro's
Multiple sound settings that can be attuned for each game you play, up to 9 and have them preset.
Multiple fun ways to change your voice with 9 presets.
Blue tooth ready to answer calls while playing or listen to music on your phone. Blue tooth is a completely separate volume from Sound and chat which is great
Chat sound sound separate volume from game sound.Basically all 3 sound sources can be quickly toggled at different levels.
Wireless sound
Chat cable for mic(Plugged into the controller)
Surround sound which is great
Cons mentioned above
There is a new version that is wireless sound and Mic that they are selling. 300.00 bucks the same I paid for mine at the time. I heard though the reviews on the wireless MIC are not good because it is a hidden mic and not a boom MIC like my version.
1. Go here and read what's compatible: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/connect-compatible-headset
2. Buy a regular Xbox one headset. (WITH a MUTE button)
-The original or the new 3.5m depending on your controller.
-If you don't have a surround sound system 5.1 or greater, then consider more expensive headsets
3. THeN go into settings and always turn off Kinect Chat (forever for all games)

Depends what you want to do. The standard one is purely voice chat. The TB ones with the adapter allow you to have the music / game sounds AND chat out the headset. So you can have volume as loud as you want too
