C160 mobs in Bangkorai dropping C140 gear.

Is this just a simple oversight by the developers, or a greedy way of making you purchase DLC content for C160 mats?
Either way, unacceptable in my book.

Okay let's rephrase OP's question then, is there a way to get 160 mats without spending Gold in-game or Cash out of game for the DLCS?

I don't really care either way but that didn't answer the initial question.

if you have to spend cash on the DLC's and it can't be found in the base game it "could" (I don't give a crap I've bought all DLCS anyway)be construed as being Pay to win in some Extremely warped mental analysis of the game :open_mouth:

Such as? The only way iirc is Cyrodiil and V16 dungeon drop deconstruction. In both cases it takes for ages. In Cyro the nodes are miles between each other. And farming up 150 armour pieces of the same weight is also not something you can do in a afternoon, so where are these "plenty of ways" you speak of?
There are no scaling zones and no v16 zones in the base game apart from the two instances I listed so, again.. It's far from "plenty". They might've upscaled the mobs in Cadwell's zones, but not the crafting nodes.

Actually now that I think about it these mats are only farmable in DLC zones if this is the case. Can always buy them in guild traders of course. Hmmm, I'd never really thought about that before. Its not like the patch has changed anything, but it never occurred to me that V16/CP160 mats are only farmable behind a paywall.

Mobs drop CP160 or CP150 gear as well, though rarely. The majority in the gold zones is CP140 gear sadly.

Would have thought bangkorai would have been CP100 and Craglorn CP110-120.

At that, you can get CP160 in instanced dungeons by deconing the gear.

Before DB that was the only way outside of the DLC zones and maybe cyrodiil. No reason to think that would change in DB.

DLC mats are pretty darn cheap in guild stores.

Also, dungeons scaled to VR16 drop V16 gear for decon.

That's plenty of ways in my books. Cyrodiil is a big map, there's plenty of nodes to go around. ;) The fact that you say it 'takes ages' really does highlight the whiny nature of some MMO players these days.

It is not pay2win. It is not ZOS being greedy. And it certainly isn't unacceptable that you have to actually spend some time to make max level gear lol.

You should think yourselves lucky they've kept it V16/CP160 for this long and not raised the cap in a while. I dread to think of what these forums will look like when they do lmao.

Crafting writ surveys also drop level-appropriate nodes ... assuming you have the passive skill points invested.

Ah you're right! I forgot about being able to farm mats in Cyrodiil. I know drops from mobs in Cyrodill drop at CP 140, but the resource nodes are based on your crafting level. Cool. I knew what the OP said didn't sound right.

It's been like that since the beginning (of VR16). They drop in scaled dungeons and some spots in Cyrodiil but with the 10x requirements for CP160 mats, it takes months to get enough for a full set, especially if you're looking for medium armor.

Without DLC the writs see probably CP140 lvl, Craglorn. Had a guildie sub expired and he started getting the lower level writs.

True that, farming up Rubedo Leather is a PITA in general. It's noticeably harder to farm than the other resources. Wish they would increase the population of critters to help. I've largely farmed tel var to fund my medium armor sets.

I have found most of the mobs in the old vet zones, now 160CP, are dropping a very high percent of CP 140 stuff, and occasionaly CP160 stuff. I was doing some grinding in greenshade to finish my fighters guild. I was getting 160 drops, they were just pretty rare. CP 160 glyphs are dropping like crazy, which is nice.

In other news, prices on top level mats have fallen through the floor. If you arent willing to buy the new DLC, you are probably going to rely on the marketplace for lots of stuff.

While I agree that finding Ruby mats is not exactly difficult, I guess I just don't see why the new gold zones wouldn't scale everything up like the other zones do. Popping treasure chests in a gold zone nets you a mix of CP140, CP150, and CP160 gear. Why isn't it all just 160?

It can't be just to limit Ruby mats, since as others have said, they aren't that hard to come by, even if you don't own any DLC. So I just don't know what the reason actually is.

I never complained about it, nor did I make any accusations, I just stated a fact that it's not as fast compared to DLC zones which is true. I never said I had a problem with it, OP did - i am indifferent about it personally. So keep your insults to yourself please.

Well, for one, CP 140 sets and CP 160 sets are not the same. I'd rather be able to still find CP 140 Martial Knowledge somewhere in game.

The best way to find tons of mat nodes in Cyrodiil is to be riding in a hurry from Keep A to Keep B because it's under attack. That guarantees at least 10 nodes of the mats that you are looking for.

I've been playing a while and for a long time the group I was with was underleveled for Craglorn, so we ignored it for a long time. Recently (starting a week ago) we've started doing it, and while the formal "rewards" don't seem to be v16/CP160, the random drops do include quite a bit, including set drops.
