Eso has been out since a long time now, and with eso designed to be so competitive in nature and guilds always fighting for the best guild trader positions, best players etc there is bound to be interesting stories of guild rivalries. So let's be entertained, everyone post your stories about the biggest guild rivalries you've witnessed or heard about.

1: I'll start this off. So back in the day only about 4 months after launch on ps4 I ended up outbidding what was known as the second richest guild in the game at the time, the witchers. Bidding prices were low at the time, keep in mind it was only barely 3 months after launch. This made the witchers really mad, they even contacted me and told me to leave their spot next week. I said I wasn't going to and they started threatening me with how much gold they have and that they can easily outbid me. I told them I'll bid an outrageous 2 million ( for the time it was indeed outrageous), it was only a bluff though. So next week I ended up going to mournhold for the week and a friend told me they actually bid 2.3 million to secure the spot!

2: Another really awesome story was about the time when a guild alliance which had its monopoly in eldenroot started to threaten a guild alliance I was in, which was mostly situated in belkarth and mournhold. So in the end a few of my friends in my alliance ended up bidding a million each on every trader in eldenroot and taking over the whole city! It's safe to say that eldenroot alliance never spoke up against any of our guilds again.

top trading guilds ever since guild trader inception. the formation and mostly collapse of the direnni dynasty (its still around but nowhere near its prime), and all the drama the has caused for years. the guild trader system promotes drama and it has succeeded, and barely any changes have been implemented to alleviate the problem.

No idea what the first part meant and I don't agree with the second part. Guild traders are the most fun aspect of this entire game. It's the most innovative trading system of any mmo out there and it makes for awesome experiences (and stories to tell. No other mmo has such an aspect of realism and complexity in trading. No other game has such an immersive trading by system in which you go to towns and cities and actually buy stuff from different stalls run by actual players. It's awesome for the role play aspect of the game as well. Any elder scrolls fan knows how big of a part of the elder scrolls lore trading companies are. Also if you don't like it, it doesn't mean that it's a problem. I know hundreds of people who only play the game because of the trading system

Please guys this is a thread for posting awesome stories, not the cliche "guild trader system" sucks rant :/

your question was about stories of guild rivalries, my answer (perhaps not clear) was that the top trade guilds have the biggest rivalries (was an officer of one, member of the DD, and the second contact on the contact list, DD members were only allowed two representatives allowed access to DD info, usually guild leader and a second, DD info included other member guilds reps contact info, DD blacklists, meetings with ZOS, etc.)

btw I do enjoy the guild trader system over a central auction house, it keeps the economy more stable, for reference a lot of prices have remained stable since game launch, that's impressive.

however there are problems with the system that I wont discuss here , there is a thread on the subject here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/163928/guild-improvements-master-list#latest

    as for stories. . .

okay, I remember during a particular strenuous time in the guild I was a part of we were "fighting" a series of other guilds, its just the way the system goes, we all wanted access to the same town and spots are limited. several weeks of sniping back and forth, spying, false information purposefully leaked (this annoyed guildies as they would ask if we were staying in our spot and our response was "maybe!" because we could not say out loud what plans were)

the bids being thrown around were unsustainably high, and guilds were taking out loans from other guilds to afford bids (10,000,000 of millions of gold) this is why spying and leaking misinformation were so important, guilds would even withdraw and deposit masses of money in various amounts over a short time to try and throw off how much had been bid and where. guild leaders and officers would specifically stand next to certain guild kiosks to try and throw people off.

I might add several weeks you had 8-10 leader/officers sitting in TS till 8 in the morning to get all this done, and most of us had jobs/college, worse is its the same day as patch day so servers would go down RIGHT after kiosk bid, if it didn't reset fast enough to confirm we got our spot before the servers went down, or we lost our spot, or it didn't reset in time and we just didn't know either, we all had to stay up or online even LONGER till the servers came up to confirm kiosk acquisition or to hurry and find an unclaimed one.

the more known players and better sellers from opposing guilds started getting asked to choose sides or to leave, they would not get kicked, but they were "encouraged" to leave one guild or the other. a lot of leaders, officers, and just good people got seriously burnt out on this (I personally left without much notice, changed my at name, and joined a decent guild in another alliance were I don't speak in chat or participate and just sell stuff, though I do chat with some of my former guildies and friends from that time)

its hard to deal with, and this never really stops. I think if I had been at a better point in my life I might have stayed, there were fun times, but I play ESO to play ESO, and it felt like every time I logged on I had people immediately fill me in on whatever the current drama was, ask me to hop into team speak, and too many nights up late stressing over guild stuff, and you cannot really quest with all that.

I don't regret my decision to leave, but I do feel bad for the people a burnt when I left the guild, one in particular that I connected with and had helped me get through some personal stuff I ceased contact with, we had some good times, and I miss her and hope she is doing well. (hideout: inferno) but I needed to cut out all of it (rough times irl)

anyway, that wall of text is my story ^_^

Wow very interesting and I'm glad you shared your story with us!

And you'll be surprised to know how relatable your story was to me. I know he EXTREMELY stressful managing a guild can be. All those nights you stay up and time you spend spying and keeping track of several other guilds guild banks seeing what the activity was etc. It all starts to get to you but I think if you stress lesser and try to stay out of "guild wars" (pun intended) then it's all worth it. Being Guildmaster is awesome and seeing your guild being represented in the gorgeous cities of tamriel is something very special

Needless to say, even though I haven't played in ESO in quite a while, I have been involved in plenty of stories with Craftaholics and Craftaholics United. For instance, an indepedent guild messaged and said to leave immediately...needless to say, we not only took their spot (not sure of the amount), we doubled our presence in the city they were in. Though we lost the spot the following week to a completely different alliance, that guild never spoke up against the Craftaholics alliance ever again, and in addition, they were later absorbed by another guild alliance.

That's pretty much the only story I got. Once I get back in ESO, I'm fairly certain there will be more interesting guild stories I can swap.
