Buying through Steam question

I have eso, but not on steam. Its on sale in steam right now and I was wondering, can I buy the steam version but log into my already existing non-steam account? in order to continue playing my already created toons.

Is that possible, or will I have to start all over again if I buy the steam version?

    Edit:

To answer my question, Yes you can indeed log into your old account after buying ESO from steam. Game on !

I see this on the steam page.

"The purchase of a Tamriel Unlimited or Tamriel Unlimited Imperial Edition game cannot be combined with any existing Elder Scrolls Online account and must be accessed separately through the Steam client."

Also, I see no sale. $60 for the base, $80 for imperial edition.

Sale ended a few hours ago. Decided to bite the bullet, buy it, and test it myself after reading elsewhere that you can log into your old account. I logged into my old account as well.

I too was afraid of buying ESO via Steam when I saw it can't be used on an old account, but that' ***, I applied the code to my old beta test account, works just fine.
