Champion Points (ZOS botch?)

How do you know your actual CP level/rank?

To clarify, how does someone who has not reached CP 160, communicate to others their actual CP rank, not their total accumulation of CP points (which, by the way, is NOT a "CP Rank"). This information is beneficial, especially when communicating the types of materials required for crafting.

For example, I have 567 CP. I inherently know which materials I need to craft. However, two friends, who reached vet16, but did not get 501 CP have significantly less CP than I (somewhere in the upper 300s and 400); there are more than two, but these two particularly. How do they know which CP level they are? How do they communicate to others? In other words, which character window or skills window etc.... can anyone on the ESO servers go to that shows them, they are, indeed, CP 110 or CP 87 or CP 147 or CP 160?

The one friend reached v16 and has 400 CP. Prior to the Dark Brotherhood release, I crafted his v16 set for him. Other lower vet-level characters of his are now classified according to his CP. So, another question is: if his previous vet 6 character now scales to CP 130 ( 400/3=133), in theory this means his lower level characters cannot wear Rubedite; however, since his v16 character is wearing Rubedite, does this mean I should craft gear in Voidstone for all his toons or only certain ones? Plus, this seems to violate crafting conditions, since although he may have reached v16, he doesn't currently possess the required CP to wear CP 150 gear. I cannot possibly be the only person on the ESO servers to recognize this dilemma. Yet, unless there is a glitch or erroneous coding, it seems that his previously classified v16 character, who does not have enough CP is actually wearing Rubedite.

I see a bunch of people running around Tamriel, showing the total number of CP they have accumulated; even on my character screen, I am showing Champion 567. So, I supposed if ZOS expects us to divide by 3, then technically, I am CP 189. Where does anyone on any of the ZOS servers go to see the "actual" CP Rank?

No offense, ZOS, but it seems you guys botched this one good! If I am wrong, please, please, please direct me to the appropriate character screen, so I can apologize for my ignorance; since, as it stands, it appears I am failing miserably to find such details. I look forward to receiving all critiques, criticisms, and feedback.

Thanks!

400 CP is 400 CP. You don't divide it by 3. Anyone having 160+ CP altogether at the moment can wear the best gear in game.

I don't understand your question. Your CP Rank is the total number of CP you have. You don't have to divide it by 3.

The others have it right, it's not the change that is botched but your understanding of it.

This is not true, since my level 25 Templar has 567 CP but cannot wear the best gear in the game ;)

That's because the best gear in game has two requisites: level 50 and Champion Rank 160. Your level 25 Templar does not fulfill one of the requisites, which is being level 50.

All characters under one account have access to the total CPs earned.

If My account has 300 CP. Even a brand new created character on my Account will have 300 CP.

So when you see a person with 300 CP, they have 300 CP no matter what characters they use.

Your friends can find out how many CP they have by hitting C for their Character screen and looking at the number on their XP bar when they are on a level 50 character.

Alternatively, they can look at their name on any of their Guild rosters.

It serves a purpose for people who have never progressed past level 50. So any new players who reach level 50 will start gaining CP from that moment on. So as they progress with their CP points they can wear CP20, CP30 armour and so on till they reach CP 160. Past that moment, any other character they create that reaches level 50 and above will be able to wear CP160 armour (that is max level armour) without having to go through the tedium of regaining all those CP points (previously vet ranks). That is the whole purpose of the CP conversion. To minimise grinding of alts so that any new characters you create just go through the level 1-50 levelling progress.

so whats the point of crafting champion 10 thru 140? it seems they now serve no purpose.

It sort of serves a purpose for new players getting their first character to 50, but even then, the CP progression is so fast that it seems like a waste of space to have 5 different materials to craft from CP10 to CP150, not to mention the outlandish 10X material cost of the top tier mats to craft 160 instead of 150 for a very small gain in stats.

And of course anyone with 160+ CP already leveling an alt goes straight from level 49 gear to CP160 gear without needing any of the 4 mat levels in between.

The removal of the vet ranks has indeed made some of the in-between crafting feel sort of pointless.

Not necessarily pointless. For example, for doing Thieves Guild quests, I crafted a CP140 set of armour just to get sneaking and crouching bonuses. No need to craft cP160 for such things. Not even CP140 really, I could have made it CP10-140, just for looks since the whole point is to avoid combat with it, and as medium armour it doesn't help my magicka build. So some lower level materials for the 5 piece bonuses were a great for me!

Very true, I am still using old VR4 (new CP40) gear on a lot of my characters for questing, there's no need to immediately upgrade for characters that aren't doing PvP or high-end PvE content.
