maybe he/she is a underage kid whose parents prohibit him for playing this game and have to ALT+F4 for a hasty action before they can discover him/her.

it's actually my dad, when I gank him in Cyro he gets angry and comes to my room so I try to avoid his beatings by quickly closing the game...
Nah, no cops, cops are no fun.maybe he/she is a underage kid whose parents prohibit him for playing this game and have to ALT+F4 for a hasty action before they can discover him/her.

Maybe that's the problem? Perhaps one of the launcher's tasks is to ensure the process is ended when the client is closed.

Sure, but if you force-quit with Alt+F4, you may stay logged into the server for up to 15 minutes after quitting. Not a good thing to do if you're standing in a hostile area or have XP scrolls running, for example, as when you log back in you may be dead (or out of scroll time). Also as for why ALT+F4, it's faster than ESC > Quit > Yes > Wait...
Why is there even a discussion about whether you should end the game via the end button or via windows explorer commands, fact is that the game doesn't close as it should if you do it via Windows and that occured since the DB update.
Means that they screwed up something (well, they screwed up alot imo, but here is just another example )

It's not as it should, you are not supposed to end the game this way. For the love of Y'ffre I see you coming:
"Oh noes another bug ! I can't exit the game properly through ALT +F4 ! Curse you ZOS with bad programming !"

Well, it worked perfeclty fine before, means that they somehow implemented a bug, which prevents that.
Also, if the game crashes it sometimes stays active in the background, thats shouldn't be the case
It's not like this is a big deal, just wanna show that there is something not working as before. If I program stuff I'm glad when ppl tell me what unintentionally changed if I didn't notice

God, my friend does this too, all the time. I can't convince him that it's stupid.
Why do kids these days refuse to shut things down gracefully as intended?
Then people wonder why stuff gets screwed up...
Just a guess... but if the game closes suddenly via a method other than a normal shutdown, it's probably going into overdrive to gather crash-related info.
Also, I can't imagine a setting where you'd have to shut down so suddenly and yet need your computer to be immediately available... (obvious jokes aside)
